Make sure you check that the Hot Springs (onsens) you are going to allows for having Tattoos. I have heard that some old school Onsens do not allow people with tattoos to use them.
You cross the International Date Line and lose a day going there. So you leave on 9/13 but land on 9/14 which would be your Recovering & Familiarization day.
