The Gamer Chapter 1969 – Approaching the Late Game 16 – Bridge Day and Goals

A mouthful of cock did not prevent the voice of the slime lady from being beautiful, as she hummed her confirmation. Over the coming minutes, she continued to suck him off until she had taken in her first breakfast.
After that, they went to the bath, then actual breakfast. It was a very normal morning throughout that entire procedure. Only after all of that had concluded, did John have everyone gather for a meeting.
Plans to get any kind of sexual service during it were denied by the birdcat deciding to sit across his lap. Long gone were the days where Velka could fit there comfortably. She was bigger than most dogs and even folded wings added extra bulk to her frame.
John made no attempt to move her. This was a pleasant change of pace. Nia and Nahoa flanked him, scratching the harem’s pet all over. Nia brought her usual pet-loving self to this. Nahoa and Velka had their own special relationship. The Magryph had found Nahoa when she had needed it the most, during the confrontation with Macuil, and the demigoddess remembered that well.
John’s hands stayed busy, rubbing the flank of his pet. Elsewhere on the couch, Copernicus was getting a similar treatment by Rave, Fianna and Delicia. A bit too spiky to lay in laps, Stirwin got an alternative treatment: Beatrice scrubbed his teeth with a toothbrush. It was hardly necessary for a crocodile made from light magic, but if it felt good, John was not going to deny it to his living conscience.
Fianna had integrated herself with one side of the U-shaped couch. Lyndell remained on the little bench that their non-haremette visitors had sat on during day one, although she only wore another one of his shirts. Moira was the only properly clothed woman in the room and even she was in an outfit that John would describe as uncharacteristically revealing.
He had seen her in skimpy clothes before, but that had been in the context of the Florida summer. The indoors were perfectly acclimated to Rave’s preferences – so it was almost as hot as the Florida summer, but the absence of the sun and a lack of moisture made quite the difference.
Yet, Moira wore a tiny tube top, showing off both her firm midriff and medium (bordering large) breasts. A pair of denim shorts revealed even more of her thighs. One leg over the other, her posture even gave him a nice slice of the curve of her butt. She was quite toned. Not as toned as Metra, but just a bit above the athletic level of the majority of the harem. When she shifted, he could see the definition of her abs – and she shifted a lot. Arms crossed, she was determined to look at anything but him. Her light blush was framed by her open, wavy hair.

John was still confused if she was trying to shimmy herself into his harem or not.
‘She probably doesn’t know herself,’ he theorized, then cleared his throat. “Alright, the program for this day: I would love to kick it back, but I am convinced there’ll be more Quests to clear the Raid, so we should clear out the in-between encounters. Nia, could you tag in for Claire today?”
“Sure,” the blank answered, eyes still on Velka.
“Alright, second point of order then,” John moved on swiftly. “We will continue with the wedding planning. We are making pretty fantastic progress with it.”
Momo was quick to curb his enthusiasm. “Because we are in the conceptual stage. The true problems will begin when we start actually booking people. Both because of their schedules and because of people dropping out last minute.”
“I’m willing to bet we’ll have less problems with that than the average wedding,” Aclysia asserted.
“Probably,” John agreed. “Still, for what we set out to do during time dilation, we have been covering what we needed on schedule.”
“I know exactly why I pushed this off forever,” Rave groaned. The collective harem turned their heads towards her, staring judgementally. “I won’t delay, I promise!”
“You better fucking not,” Eliana cussed.
“Which brings me to the final point.” John opened up the Quest window, scanning over the list of goals. Only one remained unchecked. “Eliana, do you want me to officially invite Lyndell into the harem today or are you fine with me doing that tomorrow?”
“For the love of fuck, please do ANYTHING you can tomorrow that is not about my dumbass.” Eliana was half begging, half demanding this. “Shove that shit up to tomorrow like you shoved in Lulu’s shit yesterday.”
“Ew,” the imperial tomboy commented.
“It’s fucking true.”
“I was well-prepared for the day, I will let you know.”
“Do I get a say in this?” Lyndell wondered.
“Nope,” Rave chatted back immediately. “You’ll get a say in whoever comes next though.”
The primordial lady hummed, emotionlessly, then stood up. “I crave the silence of my room.”
“See ya later, Lyn.”
John joined his wife-to-be in watching the gothic mushroom leave. They knew enough about her oddities to know that her suddenly stepping away like that was no sign of displeasure. It was just a manifestation of her cave-dwelling nature. As a reformed anti-social nerd, John knew the feeling well.
The meeting dissolved afterwards anyhow, with the vast majority of the people flooding out of the house and into the Raid. They fought the forces of the Hoof and Wings next in there, people who adapted their fighting style and limbs in response to the demands of combat.
John was over there with the Creator Puppet. The Ambassador Double was with Rave and the rest of the wedding planners, sitting in the viewing area of the arena. Moira engaged in a training session with Nathalia. Left behind in the mansion were himself, Undine, Claire and Lydia.
“Why did you ask me to stay behind, Master?” The vampire batted her lashes in anticipation of his answer.
“It’s time for your maid-tenance.”
“Might I tag along?” Undine asked.
“Of course. What about you, Lydia?”
“I shall enjoy a proper soak,” she declared.
As four, they moved to the bathing complex. They found a corner of it that served their needs, with a tub large enough for two. A massage table was unfolded and Claire laid on top of it. Head resting on the specifically shaped niche, she let out a satisfied sigh when he began the procedure.
“Maid-tenance,” Undine repeated the word with an undercurrent of friendly bafflement. “What a concept.”
“It is vital!” John pushed his hands up Claire’s back, slathering smooth, white skin in oil. He spread the aromatic liquid graciously, happy that he did not have to consider the amount of money it cost. Every bottle that came out of the Guild Hall was produced either by the mechanics of the Oil House or the people that worked therein. Gifts or taxes, he received plenty of them either way.
“In what world is it vital?” Undine asked with a smile on her blue lips.
“In every world, in every second, in every thought,” Claire responded, too relaxed to raise her voice beyond room level.
“We have been doing maid-tenance forever,” John added, squirting a little more oil over Claire’s butt. His hands followed, giving the plump spheres the kneading dough of this quality deserved. “How else am I going to assure that she operates at maximum efficiency?”
“She does not have muscles,” the slime lady pointed out.
“Claire, does this help you relax?”
“It helps with more than that,” she cooed.
Undine dropped the topic with the ease of a teasing friend. “I did not expect you to raise the matter of Lyndell so brazenly.”
“We had a little encounter yesterday. There’s no point in denying it.” He glanced at Lydia. “Do you disagree?”
The queen was reclined in the bathtub, her curves obscured by bubbles, her eyes closed. She instinctively knew when she was being addressed. “She has proven herself a surprisingly inoffensive addition to our cycle.”
“What does that mean?” Claire asked.
“It means that I can find no reason to deny her, yet also few reasons to admit her.” Lydia ran her hands up her forehead, brushing her copper mane back. It was rare to see her with her hair open. It gave her a pleasantly casual look, although it also had a bit of an odd effect, like looking at someone without their glasses. “In the absence of minuses, any pluses are enough, however.”
“Her lack of goals bothers you,” John said.
“As it does you, my love.”
“Many of us have no greater goals.” Undine picked up a sphere of water, letting it hover above her hand. By her will it turned to ice, then back into water, shifting its form to resemble various members of the harem. “Salamander, Beatrice, Lorelei, Sylph… I…” The sphere dropped back into the water, never forming a double of herself.
“You are underselling some ambitions,” Claire mumbled, while John worked her thighs. “You also didn’t listen well. Rare of you.”
“One might accuse you of intentionally getting it wrong.” John held the amber gaze of the slime lady for several seconds. “You do not need greater goals, just something that defines your life outside of love. You have your songstress career.” Undine averted her gaze. “Are you dissatisfied with it?”
“I am always dissatisfied with something,” the gothic woman responded quietly, as if she was afraid of that thought. “I do not want to make it your bother.”
“It doesn’t bother me to be asked,” he assured her. “I will be the one to let you know when it changes to pestering. What’s your state of mind at? Are you unhappy?”
“I am incredibly happy,” Undine assured. She did not fake a smile to convince him of it, nor did she force the emotion through their mental connection. The sing-song of those four words spoke for themselves. “My bother is the eternal struggle. I feel as if I should be doing more.”
Lydia opened one eye. “You are doing plenty.”
“That means a lot coming from you.” Undine lowered her head in gratitude. “Yet the feeling remains.”
John pondered her plight while working Claire’s shoulders. Some people were burdened with a mind that could not rest. As one whose paranoia rarely slept, he could empathize. It wasn’t as if he was without his own drives to work either. For Undine, finding more work for her to do was difficult. She was already the most active of his elementals, using her capacity to operate with multiple bodies to be present all over the Guild Hall on most days. She was healer, advisor, chastiser, and many other roles, none of them formalized in any code. As contracted elemental, her role in the overall power structure was more esoteric than a specific rank allowed to express.
Outside of those capacities, she was surrounded by important friends. Eliana, Siena, Claire and Nahoa were, in their individual insanity, anchored to her as the reasonable, calm one in their midst. They did much together, be it as artists or women.
It couldn’t be said that Undine didn’t get her needs met in the capacity of getting needed. Neither could it be said that she did not get her time to relax. From the outside looking in, her life was perfect. She must have been thinking the same way, which made the fact that she still felt bothered even more bothering.
“The more I move away from the woman that betrayed your trust, the more I realize that I am still that woman,” Undine put her thoughts to words. Knees pulled to her chest, she played with the surface of the water. “No matter the ripples on the surface, the water beneath remains the same.”
“…Maybe,” John agreed reluctantly. It wasn’t nice to say that some people were just incapable of full happiness by nature, but it was a facet of reality. Just like Claire could lose herself in an intensity of love few others could echo, so too did levels of content vary from person to person. “That doesn’t mean there is nothing to be done, though. What is the first goal that comes to your mind?”
Undine directed her gaze at the ceiling. She pondered for a while.
Claire giggled. “He said the first thing.”
“There are many ideas that need weeding out.”
“That is violating the spirit of the exercise. Come on, ‘Dine, what’s the actual first idea.”
“…I want to pacify the Oceanic Fuse.”
John’s hands stopped for a moment. When he resumed, he did so with a basic understanding. “I assume you chose that one over the Atlantic Fuse because we are operating in the Asian theatre anyway?”
Undine nodded. The Oceanic Fuse was located between the Philippines, Australia, New Guinea and the Maluku Islands. All leylines followed the gaps between tectonic plates and this one was the intersection of three of them.
Close to leylines, Natural Barriers appeared with much increased frequency, which was doubly true around Fuses. The Atlantic Fuse was a veritable breeding ground for all manners of water creatures and one of the few stable, massive Natural Barriers. Usually, the monsters inside a Natural Barrier devoured one another until they emerged as something Gaia covered up as a disaster, like an earthquake or a freak blackout. Only around Fuses was the spawning of new monsters so frequent that the ecosystem was internally stable.
In terms of these Fuses, the Oceanic one was of minor importance. All leylines flowed towards the Mediterranean, which put this Fuse near the starting point of the flow. The majority of its feeding streams went through empty ocean and scarcely populated islands, with the exception of the Philippines.
As far as taking anything over went, there were much worse targets. It wasn’t in the court of any major power and last John had checked only New Atlantis tapped into the Natural Barriers.
“To what end?” he asked next. “Economic reasons, prestige?”
“I… would like to create a lair there and-“
“Like a supervillain?” Claire asked.
“…Hopefully not,” Undine answered drily. “Some may call it that. I wish to seat an organization, something in the image of Nightingale’s web of relationships, but tighter, less open.”
“A secret society,” Lydia summarized.
“Yes.”
John wasn’t going to claim that Undine wasn’t the type to run a secret society. The slime lady had always been most comfortable when she was seen in the background, only taking the stage of performances. Still, the question remained. “I still don’t quite understand to what end.”
“Because we live in a world of hidden interests. It is best to have the tools to assert our own,” Undine’s response was swift and clear. “Because… I want an instrument for my own will.”
“Then that is all I need,” John told her. “I think we can make this happen… just another little territorial expansion to add to the list.”
“That simple?” Undine asked.
“That simple,” he assured.
He was happy to put himself in service of his women’s ambitions.
