Lmao. This has always been my issue when the Troupe was introduced. They didn't fight anyone credible. These beasts were practically a waste of time. Lol

So basically, Kurapika made a Nen pact, like a vow or contract with his ability. It gives him incredible power, but only under specific conditions. The bigger the risk he takes, the greater the power increase will be. In this case this crazy power is only useful against Troupe members, prohibiting him from using his greatest power against anyone else, which has limited his full potential. That boy really only cares for revenge.
