Development Update #31
🕑 Added 2024-10-17 21:16:01 +0000 UTCYeah, I made one of my shitty collages of the update. This one is particularly chaotic. Sorry if you got tricked into thinking this was actually a release. I used comic sans so it doesn't count. That's how you can tell.
Anyway, so here we are with an update on development. Although it's a private post here, I'm also gonna be posting it on discord purely because of how long it's been since anyone public has had an update on whether or not the game is dead. It's not lol. Usually updates are a supporter only thing, but for this one I'm gonna release it on discord as well. Probably some time tomorrow though, so you guys at least get an advance on it..
Unfortunately, it's likely to be similar to the last one. Basically, I'm still working on it. It's ended up being 0.22 sized, and there are two reasons for that. Firstly, the complication of this one massive scene in the middle that I mentioned, and secondly, the fact that for people who either opt out of those characters, or just choose to play once and not explore other options, the playtime probably wasn't all that long. So basically I've added another thing near the end of the update which provides a lot more playtime, while hopefully remaining interesting to people. I was originally planning to put it in another update, but decided to put it in this one instead for that reason.
I still have no specific eta on when it'll be released, it's really really hard to tell. I know exactly which scenes I still need to get finished to get the update out, but it's pretty much impossible for me to predict how long each one will take since it varies how much I can get done in a day. If you're after stats though, here are the current ones.
Around 4500 renders
Just over 93,000 words (In dialogue. I have no idea how many lines of actual code.)
Around 200 animations
I'm not so specific about exact numbers because they're very subject to change. Especially the wordcount.
Also, another point, I'm probably gonna be changing the feature known as "No spice mode". For those who aren't aware, it was a feature which retconned the game to make all characters completely canonically straight, to the point where it would change some of their dialogue lines that might even vaguely imply some kind of lesbian attraction. I'll be changing it to basically just automatically deny any choices that would enable lesbian content, so you don't get served those choices. The reason for this is twofold.
1) I've realised during development of this update specifically that it pretty much requires me to write new versions of a few characters, which is a huge amount of work for something so specific, and I don't wanna delay the update further for the sake of this feature.
2) As far as I'm aware, it's a very small minority of players who actually use this feature given you can just opt out of lesbian scenes in the game anyway, and it's hard to justify the time it'll take to fully support it going forward for that small minority.
So yeah, that's a thing.
Anyway, apologies again that it's taking so long. I truly have no idea how I thought I was gonna finish this in July or whatever I originally said. It will be released eventually once it's all done. I'm never making an update this complicated again lmao. Pretty much all my free time goes into it, so nobody wants it completed more than I do. Once it's done, I'll probably take a couple days off, since I don't really do that atm.
Also, I might have forgotten to say some stuff. I originally typed this out a few days ago in notepad with the intention of posting it, but then I got distracted and forgot to save it before I turned off the PC lol. Whoops.
Also also, I know there are still a couple of people waiting on owed custom renders from annual subscriptions and such. I haven't forgotten, and I will get to them as soon as I can.

So this is my last month as a patreon. I have seen this pattern of behavior from other devs I have supported. The game is dead, I don't doubt that a release will happen at some point but once these delays and lack of communication start they never ever get better. They will only grow worse and worse until it is finally abandoned. It might be dead already or maybe they squeak out another update or two before it's abandoned. I sincerely hope I am wrong but as I said this is following a pretty standard pattern.
