Realistic Skeletor with moveable jaw ,and some options :)
🕑 Added 2024-10-07 13:35:50 +0000 UTCOCTOBER LINK IS SENT TO THE "WE ARE MAEKERS" MEMBERS :)
Hope you're not tired of the "halloween" stuff, but i just want to give you a head start as much as i can :D
This one was something i had in mind for quite a while and it's now a perfect time for it
A highly detailed and realistic Skeletor helmet, however as you most likely guess, i couldn't just make that one without any "add-on's"
So included are:
1: Realistic skeletor helmet (option 1)
- mask and half helmet version
- pre sliced half helmet version
- helmet version with and without straps
- light bone texture
- heavy bone texture
- moving jaw
2: Realistic skull/reaper helmet (option 2)
- mask and half helmet version
- pre sliced half helmet version
- helmet version with and without straps
- light bone texture
- heavy bone texture
- moving jaw
3 . cartoon Skeletor version from 1980's He-man
- moving jaw
- mask and half helmet version
- half helmet pre sliced option
For all to work, i would advise to add a piece of dark cloth behind the mask , it will look much more awesome, and use some elastic straps, or rubber bands for the jaw to be able to retract back up
You'll notice I've added only 1 3mf file bcs there are about 30 stl file options in there to choose from, so I added only the first one to "kickstart" your prints , and if you want to use other options, just load them from the STL folder :)
If you don't mind me saying this is gonna be pretty scary halloween mask that can be used not only as a Skeletor but grim reaper, or any other skull creature :D

Ohh yeah, I used the wrong pin. Thank you very much
Marko Makaj
Are you sure you are not using the 5x5 pin instead of the pivot one ? :) here is the assembly :) https://www.instagram.com/reel/DBKIOdLKJen/?igsh=MXJ4eHdmdm93am9hbw==
Frozendice87
Hi, is the pivot pin supposed to be glued in or something? It is quite a bit smaller than the holes where it sits in π

I am excited to figure out how to get this project!
Mark Duffie
I will do that right now. :-)
Marko Makaj
Thos project is not available to youngling tier members as per tier description - -youngling tier is a test tier, a cheap way to try out patreon, so that one only gets you first model of thr month and a welcome model - if you wish to get access to this one , all last months peojects and this months projects please consider upgrading to "we are makers" tier :)
Mark Duffie
How can I get this project with a new YOUNGLING tier account?
Marko Makaj
Yes, very well and you cna breathe easly also
Ezra Farber
can you see through it?
Marko Makaj
not sure to be honest, i just both a piece of cloth locally , its quite thin , so looked like it cold work well :D
Ezra Farber
What is the black fabric you wear underneath the mask? It looks cool!
FireChicken
Ok folks, I printed using the .3mf on the X1C. Printed in Sunlu pla+. Printed flawlessly. I'm honestly a little mad that whatever support settings you used worked SO well, they came off easier than anything I've ever done, so I'll be looking to learn from that. Only problem I have, is my head doesn't fit lol. I'm going to need to figure out how to extend the top back of the head piece by a few mm. Without putting a black cloth behind the mask the teeth bite the sides of my face, I think that will be solved with the black hood over my face. (Teeth hurt if you close it down too fast lol)

Thanks for the follow up. I changed the Support from Normal(manual) "Snug" to Norman(manual) "default" and it worked. Let me know if you still want pics.
jaysen singh
Thank you will do.
Marko Makaj
hard to explain without sharing a photo, but feel free to post this question in the FB group and weβll reply with some photos :)
Marko Makaj
can you send me a message with some more info and photos ? its hard to say what went wrong, but its 100% certain the files are ok, as iβve printed a few allready, and from the FB groups and IG posts, quite allot of people printed them also without any issues, so drop me a message, lets see what went wrong :)
jaysen singh
Whatβs the best orientation for the full skull head. Is it the same as the others.
Robert C
Hi, I have tried to print the "kickstart heavy texture helmet option.3mf" on my Bambu X1C 3 times now. I am using "Polymaker Matte PLA Filament Cotton White". Each print has failed early in the print with the skull1 detaching from the supports. Is there setting to strengthen the supports connection to the skull?
Marko Makaj
I just both a forst one i saw in the local store, pretty mich anything thats dark and elastic can be used https://www.instagram.com/reel/DBKIOdLKJen/?igsh=MXJ4eHdmdm93am9hbw==
Marko Makaj
Heres the assembly video https://www.instagram.com/reel/DBKIOdLKJen/?igsh=MXJ4eHdmdm93am9hbw==
Marko Makaj
Check the 3mf in the folder, it has orientation and support info included
Marko Makaj
The plates are not named bcs i provide the jpg photos where every option and file is broken down and every file is named, so the same file names that you see in the photos can be located in the 3mf - the 3mf is quickstart print - more options and versions are always in the stl folders :)
Marko Makaj
100% no issues with the files as quite many people printed it allready as seen in the FB group and IG posts, and i myself printed 2 of them allready also, both orinted on the first try, no issues. Buf if you can explain how and where it fails, or provide some photos i could help out more, but you can rule out the files being an issue :) https://www.instagram.com/reel/DBKIOdLKJen/?igsh=MXJ4eHdmdm93am9hbw==

New here, first patreon purchase ever! I think I'm going to try this is a glow pla.... Should be sweet! I'm going to have to download the show to watch with the kids, let them know the real cartoons! *edit* - Also, check the 3mf file you put, the plates werent named so it took me a while to figure out why there were to faces, I figured out the small difference, one is the skeletor (bigger bump just above the nose) and one is the reaper. If anyone else is looking for the easy mode print that should help them figure out whats going on. Thanks again dude!
Jeff Grunbaum
Hello, I tried printing the STL for the skull and the print job keeps failing, I am using Bambu A1. Not sure if anyone else is having this issue. I am a NOOB to 3d printing, so it very well could be an issue on my end
Rob
Do have a link to the elastic you used?
Josh Strong
This would make a wicked cool Ghost Rider mask too!
Marko Makaj
yup, those are assembly pins :)
Marko Makaj
Just loop the elastics through the holders, its pretty straightforward, csnt go wrong either way :) but inwill post an assembly video soon on my IG just in case :)
Majestic My
do you have guide to put the elastic straps inside?
Rob
What orientation did you all print this in?
Steve Burk
look in your last picture (#9), the option 2 picture. Bottom row, third object is the two split back halves of the skull. You can see 4 round peg holes. I assumed that these (and the matching holes on the front half, were for magnets. I guess I was wrong:)
Marko Makaj
what would you use the magnets for ?
Steve Burk
What size are the magnets for the helmet version?
Anthony Whatley
Will when home tonight cheers
Marko Makaj
I printed 3 allready, nonproblem with any, so that shouldnt be possible :D drop me a message with some photos, lets take a look :)
Anthony Whatley
Hi, printed this out yesterday and the jaw isn't wide enough to click into the skull piece. Anyone else suffered with this issue ?
Well Armed Ogre
make one with a back and we can use it for Red Skull :)
Marko Makaj
yup those are automated email, its good, as long as you got it, bcs sometimes they dont get sent out for wahtever reason :D
Keith Marshall
I got it via email but not in the pateron inbox
Marko Makaj
did you get the october link ? if not, let me know so i'll send it to your patroen inbox :)
Keith Marshall
Ok just subscribed again π
Herb Veitenhans
Honestly it would be better to just get contacts. I wear glasses and wrestle with this all the time. Another option though is gas mask glasses inserts.
Marko Makaj
thank you :)
Marko Makaj
cant wait to see some prints :)
Marko Makaj
gald to hear that :D
Marko Makaj
haha :D
Marko Makaj
ahaha cant wait for it to print :D i think its gonna be awesome :D
Marko Makaj
haha :D true :D
Marko Makaj
yup my bad, just refresh, its in there now :)
Ron St Germain
i see the 3mf folder, but there isn't a file in it. can anyone else see it?
RossReplica
That is cool wouldn't mind having things on the shop that can't be taken down lol can't copyright the human skull π nice one Marko I always look forward to your posts. And loveing the more mechanical stuff.
Frank Lombard
This is going to be a problem for everyone around me haha
jason diodati
This is great for the month let go back to GreySkull
Christian megna
Yeah I know it's difficult, I'm trying to fit a mask right now with foam around my glasses since I have never used contacts. Just food for thought if you ever need another feather in your hat to distance yourself from other modelers. Maybe this is best suited for parameter based designing to make the "gasket"
Marko Makaj
The "somehow" part is the probelm :) diferent glasses sizes, and shapes wich will require thr mask to be further from thr face as it could not be rounded to the shape of theface, and make it bulky. But could be a cool thing to tey and figure out altho contacts would solve all issues , but yeah an interesting idea :)
Crimson03
MYAAAAAAAAAAAAA! Can i request that the eye hole shape be added? So i can cut out shapes from them? I have spare mando lenses and black tinted sheets.
Christian megna
Great detail and thought on this model! I have an extra challenge for you, develop an insert for masks which will allow people with glasses to wear masks. The insert would act as a spacer around the glasses and fit against the mask somehow
Herb Veitenhans
Sweet! Loved Skeletor as a kid, and now I work in Radiology lol
jaysen singh
This would be cool if we can integrate your moving eyes and sensor. Would be a cool desk model. Looks awesome. π€©
Ed_F
Fantastic, Marko!! Never tired of cool Halloween stuff :)
