No strings addon for Wolverine claws

Hey guys, just a quick little addon on the wolverine claws. No worries, you don't have to reprint anything, this is just a little test of an idea I had to completely remove the need for an elastic string.
I have designed a new M1 pieces that you can just replace with the screw, and hopefully you won't need to use the strings any more
I tested it on PLA, but I plan to test it on YOU as well. I've marked it as experimental as i've played with it today, and so far it works well, but not yet sure how well it will hold in the long run, so yeah, let's give it a try, and see if we can improve this so we won't need any sort of elastic strings at all :)
FIles is in the folder under:

that is pretty smart

I used magnets under the trigger and is working great (attached one to the claw housing and two to the trigger )

Yeah i found it in the end thanks buddy

Hey, depending on your patreon tier - the models are sent to your email inbox, its the first message you get from patreon when you join :) if you still wont be able to find it, let me know and ill resend it all to your patreon inbox :)

Just joined how do i download
Marko Makaj
5 mm diameter, 2mm thickness , forgot to add it :D
Robert Lamela
What is the size of the magnets used for the gauntlets? I didn't see it anywhere
Josh Lange
I’ve added many walls to TPU to make it stronger .that should work
Galen Young
works a couple of times then it loses its stability
Jason Paquet-Garceau
Work one or two time then not enough resistance and don’t hold the claws anymore
Marko Makaj
yes you have to mirror it for the other side
Mark Carrozza
I printed this out but I'm assuming it's keyed. I put it on the left claw and it doesn't fit. I'm assuming we can just mirror it to get the left side?
Marko Makaj
that is good to know, thats why i labeled them experimental, will see if TPU works better or i’ll keep tinering on the design to figure it out :D we can always use string tho :D haha
Hector K. Paredes
Yes. Worked perfectly for a few runs. Then after a bit they didn’t offer the same resistance. Great job regardless.
Jason Paquet-Garceau
Ohhh gonna use that way better than elastics bands
Marko Makaj
yes, the only problem can be if its too flexible, so need to test it out :D
Crimson03
I have no experience with TPU, is it strong and flexible?
Marko Makaj
Ok great, good to knowy thats why i called it experimental, will see if i can adjast the design somehow or maybe use tpu , its a trial and error process :)
Crimson03
some feedback, i tried these out. with the screws. eventually these will overstress and bend after a few SNIKTs. Its kinda tricky because it needs to be stiff enough to hold the claws in, and at the same time flexible .. good thing i still have the elastic bands! haha
Drue
these are great!!! seems they could be controlled by a linear servo..
Marko Makaj
thnx for the feedback, i have yet to test out tpu, but i think there is a sweet spoot there somewhere :D

It works pretty good. I think I need to maybe print it with more than 15% infill to get more springiness to it. But way easier than rubber bands or elastic string. Awesome work Marko
Marko Makaj
haha i used those before, for some reason i like that string, but yeah, it would be better without it :D
Crimson03
Loving it! Pretty sure it was ur plan all along to turn us all into surgeons making us tie tiny elastic knots hahah.
Thomas
awesome, next in queue.

Please keep us posted!

Marko please some help on my subscription. sent you a message.

Awesome! Will print tonight after work
Babu Sabers
Well done. Now to find the time to print them 😅
Rob Davis
The little half circles on the side of the blades hit the curved stops on the inside of the housing and continue forward with force to wedge when flung out hard. It takes some force to unwedge them and push back in to the housing. It could be the soft PLA and the tolerances on my printer at .20mm.
Marko Makaj
There are blades with extra stoppers to prevent that included, but i like the clean ones more :D
Enrique Hernandez
I will definitely test this
Rob Davis
Great idea! I have been playing with the claw and housing stops because I'm finding that the claws are "sticking" if I fling them out too hard.
Andrew Sheffield
Beautiful great idea

Printing now. Will try as soon as I get home
