Seeing as we're entering spooky season/horror season, what if the heroine was in some kind of scenario where she had to eat to keep her head above pudding etc. Or could be trapped in a container and the only way is to break it from the inside - i.e get too massive for it her blubber cracks it. Alternatively a witch plays a trick and every time the victim looks at food she 'eats' it and a portion fills her stomach, our unwitting heroine could go to a food festival type place
