State of the Skeleton 6/20-6/24: Wrapping up Konami Brawlers
🕑 Added 2022-06-25 04:28:44 +0000 UTCHi everybody! Grace here. Derek and I are back from our family trip and wasted no time getting our noses to the grindstone. Well, I caught a cold, so actually my nose has been getting to the Kleenex. But I think you know what I mean.
Monday 6/20
Today was podcast recording and catching up on miscellaneous stuff, like emails and DMs. You know it’s a relatively chill day when the most exciting activity (outside of the podcast!!) was a meeting to figure out a plan for the rest of our week. Derek sorted through some photos from his childhood that he snagged from Alaska and found ANOTHER childhood TMNT photo. Man, the grip this series had on his childhood...

Today Derek and I went over an upcoming Past Mortem script outline to troubleshoot some problems I was having. Normally I like to structure PMs as more linear (“x happened, and then x happened, etc”) but this video is about Microsoft Game Room, a failed service similar to Nintendo’s Virtual Console on the Wii. I find it fascinating, but at the time it was a service that not a lot of people cared about (for good reason lol). It’s going to be a bit challenging to keep interesting unless I switch up how I normally think about the outline of everything. But, Derek is a great person to bounce these sorts of ideas off on, so I am feeling better moving forward.
Afterwards, Derek did more edit prep for the Konami video and got the second half of the video prepped for VO. I gotta admit I was feeling a bit sick, so I slept for the rest of the day.

The funny thing about letting a script sit while you are on vacation is that it tends to add to itself. We decided to add in a surprise Delisted game to the Konami Brawlers video, Simpsons Arcade Mobile. And as SSFF’s resident tech wiz, it was my job to get emulation for it up and running as well as play it. I gotta say, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. I only ended up adding about a paragraph into the script, but it did get me wondering if a Delisted Simpsons games video might be in our future. Derek recorded VO for the second half of the Konami Brawlers video, but also took some time to work on the Crash Bandicoot Delisted script. It’s one of our Zeebo refugee scripts and I’m so excited to finally get into production on it. Fingers crossed it doesn’t somehow grow an extra page.
Thursday 6/23
My Thursday got a bit derailed by a letter from the IRS saying we owe money that I definitely already paid. Looks like it’s an issue on their end, so I’m not too worried about it. Oh well, I was still able to work on the Game Room script while I was on hold and Derek finished VO for Konami Brawlers. Also I finally played Shredder’s Revenge and it was SO GOOD.
Friday 6/24
Today we filmed liveshots for Konami Brawlers. Finally! I’m excited not only because the video is that much closer to getting done, but because we’ll finally be able to tear down the shelves behind Derek on the set! I’ve wanted to do this for ages, but stocking issues made it extremely difficult to get the replacement shelves I wanted. I ended up getting some Ikea shelves that I think will let us get a majority of Derek’s games out of the closet. I also think it’ll look a lot nicer too. I like the set as it is, but the way the shelves are set up in the back make it look like the camera is tilted imo. Hopefully this will look nicer!! I’m planning on dedicating a majority of my weekend to setting it up. Well, a majority of Derek’s weekend while I watch lol. He’s a lot better with tools than me!
See you guys next week!
Grace
