The only note I have for this movie would be : why didn’t they cast Mia Goth to play Shelley Duval ?!?! No shade to Alex Essoe, she did a great job, but Goth looks like a reincarnation of Shelley without even trying 😍😍

Another Flanagan rec would be Midnight Mass (please! it's so good!). It looks like the only other movies of his you haven't reacted to are Absentia and Before I Wake (along with The Life of Chuck which I remember Wes doing on Letterboxd so it wouldn't be new to you). I've seen them both. For early films they are good and show his potential as a director but I would not put them in the same league as his other stuff. But if you want to be completionists they are not bad films at all. 😃

I loved this reaction especially to the "score" from the opening of the shining I remember that gave me chills so much when I saw this and I started clapping lol. Also in the book Snakebite Andi is a lesbian she was harmed at a young age and as you saw takes revenge on creeps her own way using her “shine” and in her initiation into the True Knot she nearly faded into nothing but Rose promised her that she would sleep with her if she survived it and low and behold she did and they slept together for the first and last time because rose loves her Crow Daddy

This movie is one of my favorite Stephen King movies! I really enjoy The Shining, too. I had a very hard time with the book The Shining, it dealt SO HEAVILY with the monster that the alcohol created and seeing as how my mom was an undiagnosed bipolar, an alcoholic, and a diagnosed narcissist. She was a monster and the drink always made it worse. So I couldn't finish The Shining book, it was too scary, too familiar.

I love that this channel does Spooky and horror year round! I really hope y'all do The Last Exorcism, eventually. It's the single best found footage movie I've ever seen and the premise is so original! That combined with the practical effects and the fact that it doesn't use tons and tons of CGI, it just feels SO REAL. I honestly can't say enough positive things about it!

I vote for "A Perfect Marriage" and "Big Driver" - they were both novellas from his book "Full Dark, No Stars" which was excellent. "A Good Marriage" was loosely based on the "BTK Killer" Dennis Rader.

we have! we watched it (and bly manor) when they first came out before our channel existed. We probably will do a rewatch someday though once we get through the other Mike Flanagan projects we haven't seen ❤️
