Heyyyooo how's everyone doing? Had a nice week? Did ya do a thing that made ya happy?! I hope so! After a week of sick last week I am finally feeling better!
To start the week I actually reboarded this second half of the H-scene again, I wasn't happy with how I had it (plus I wanted to include a couple of... things...hehe). Then I got a few intro environment shots done for this next part. As we're entering a second half I thought it was good to set the stage for pacing. I spent the majority of the week working on the main rig for this scene, as mentioned in the last post this scene going to pretty much consist of two main rigs, this back view and a face closeup rig with a couple of other closeup shots which will be simpler. Full body, full detail rigs like this one (similar to the Ada one) are pretty complex and require a lot of little details, I hadn't actually done one for this film yet, just smaller simpler ones. It took quite a bit to get there but I'm happy with how she turned out. All the art for the rig is done but still gotta add in the bones and physics, so that'll be today's work, next week I'll be onto getting some tentacles in the right spots, if ya catch mah drift ;)
I realized I made a mistake when I counted out the shots for the H-scene. When I made the shot list I counted each artwork as a shot but when I wrote it here I counted each finished shot as a shot even if it used the same artwork (like some of her face closeups or the penetration) so it sorta wound up doubling up up the numbers a bit. I also added a bunch of little things that I wound up counting even tho they weren't in the shot list plan, soooo even tho it looks like we're coming up close to the end, we're kinda just getting into the second H-scene. I'm working entirely chronological with this film and I want it to have a really nice feel to it so sometimes that means just putting in a shot here or there if it needs it for storytelling or continuity. So that makes it a bit hard to gauge precisely. I'm gonna take a guess at another 15 shots or so but it may change in the future depending on how things go, thank you kindly for your patience with this, I am aiming to get you a real nice Frieren film and I want to make it sparkle✨
I wanted to do something out of the norm for me, working in a different way and challenging what I do so there are some hurdles when it's coming to estimates.
A very long way to say that delays are only delays because I'm adding more juiciness into the scene. But I will say that we're about 2 months into this project, just for some context, Riches in the Shadows took around 2 months and it's runtime is a lil over 4mins. With Frieren, we're already at 5m 30s, so def a longer (and imo better) film already! Exciting stuff for sure, I'm probably just having too much fun on it.
