Plum Parrot

Thanks, vudu. I'll try to give you some answers to your questions!

Man the saddest thing about VoT ending is that you’ve created such a wonderful world I want to see more of it. Like Tess’s home world and the other areas she hangs out in we most likely won’t ever see but I’m curious about it. And what happens when Victor does pierce the veil…what do conflicts look like at that level? What comes after that? Ranish Dar does something? What kinda thing drives someone like that?

Plum Parrot

Thanks for the supportive words!

Plum Parrot

:D Thanks!

Plum Parrot

Nice, I have some ideas that lean in that direction (the book isn't quite over)

Donavan Guay

P.S - what happened to the energy after he killed Thoargh? I was curious as to how much energy a steel bound person would have.

Donavan Guay

I really enjoyed reading the different POVs, especially made me hate Thoargh more and I liked the pay off. It's hard to please everyone and especially when it comes to a fictional world. You're doing a great job and I for one definitely enjoy every chapter.

What you have here in terms of a story arc is pretty good. I'll offer some advice. Feel free to ignore it. This plot point shouldn't be about whether or not Throagh is a threat. It should be about the Catharsis of Victors utter dominance. As well as highlighting the idea that Victor has to let go of being the bulwark between his people and danger. That piece with Relia admitting weakness is nice, but should be couched in how they will empower the free marches. Not just pulling in protectors but also building them with Relia chief among them. That will bring this part of the story more in line with the rest of your story. This series has to me always focused on self reliance in adversity and I would love to see that reflected in how these people, all of Victor's allies, react to having a knife at their throats again. My two cents.

You're taking the comments too seriously. Now, I'll admit this is not my favorite book in your series, but it was fun, enjoyable, and needed for the flow of the series. Take a page from Zogarth on people's comments. Constructive criticism is ok, but Noone owns this series besides you. I for one am here for the long haul. Well done on another successful and engaging story.

Johnny

Love that you account for feedback but do you man, haven’t steered us wrong thus far…but wait 12 book stopping point? I take it back, you must accept reader directives and I demand 12 more books. 24 is a decent stopping point

Plum Parrot

I totally spaced having Victor get his Energy from Thoargh. I'll make a big edit and add it to the start of Thursday's chapter for you all.

Will Potter

Did victor get a power infusion from the battle... And if the next book is the last Victor is going to have to have some major time skips. Please don't make it like the last book of Road to Mastery totally unsatisfying.

Plum Parrot

Thanks, Chris! Super happy that you're enjoying AA.

Plum Parrot

Thanks, Greg :) You're welcome to tag along anytime!

Yeah, great insight. I had a much longer plan, but I saw my 2-book plotline stretching into three, then four. I'd argue with some of your points, but it's okay - I certainly agree with some of them, too. If I were a trad writer, I think this book would get some serious rewriting. My schedule just doesn't allow for that, though. If I can get things "good" (and a lot of people are telling me that this book is good, despite its flaws), then I keep moving. If I tried to reach "perfect," I'd starve :(

Plum Parrot

Thank you for the feedback! And advice :)

Plum Parrot

Sorry if this is shock! I've been saying this since about the time I started working on book 9!

Plum Parrot

WORDS!

Plum Parrot

Ty! :)

Plum Parrot

Wish I could put a GIF in here - love Super Saiyan GIFs :)

Plum Parrot

Thanks, Omar!

This is one of my favorite series and I think the writing is top notch for the genre. Sad to hear it is going to be winding down. On the bright side hopefully that means more AA chapters eventually. I did not mind the Thoargh chapters. I think the main issue is we all knew he was going to get his ass kicked after some causing some minor trouble.

Greg Lambert

Plum: I love this series. No book will ever satisfy everyone. As much as I love this series, there are things I don't like about it. I appreciate the fact that you engage, listen, disagree, and sometimes even change the story based upon your readers' input. hahah...After all, we pay our money to complain. But in the end, that is all the right we have. To cheer and voice our opinion. To yell at you for awful cliffs. But it is your story and your journey. Thanks for letting us tag along.

While I'm still enjoying my time reading VoT, I think Book 11 is suffering a bit from not having a Good Antagonist. I think Thoargh was supposed to fit that role, but ultimately, I think it fell flat. So much of his machinations happen behind the scenes, and ultimately, don't affect our Protagonist, and a lot of the foreshadowing about him potentially harming Victor or those he cares about also falls flat. We lose someone who I honestly can't remember the last time we spent any significant time with. Sure, he was awesome and a lovable character, but it doesn't really feel like Victor lost anything truly impactful. And if you had killed a different character, I think it would have been even worse, since it wouldn't have felt earned. Ultimately, I think Thoargh would have been better served as a comic relief character. Plotting in the background about his Great Archrival Victor of Tucson. Meanwhile, Victor just consistently outmaneuvering him completely by accident and unaware. This would have let us focus more on Victor and his crew, his expansion into the Vampire Planet, and maybe even having some potential foreshadowing of serious challenges for Victor on this new world. Having these villain POVs only really works if our Protagonist is seeing the results of the Antagonist actions and not knowing what to attribute them to. That allows us, as the audience, to get the feelings of dread, anticipation, and hype that I think you were going for. Right now, it just felt like a disjointed, disconnected, and ultimately disappointing "villain". That being said, I'm still enjoying the main part of Victor! I just think Thoargh was a needless distraction that ultimately didn't pay off. And I say that having saved a bunch of chapters to read in a row, because I was definitely getting frustrated with his POV sections in the weekly releases. I don't think it will be improved in book form, unfortunately.

Super disappointed to hear that VoT is coming to an end for whatever reason. For me personally it’s not that I disliked the other povs it’s just that I enjoy reading about victor more. I can’t imagine how hard it is writing like this getting feedback on every word and every chapter as you write them it must be frustrating. As you know if you try to please everyone youll please no one. So my advice which is worth very little is to write the story YOU want to tell. You’ve created these worlds and these characters they are yours and I thank you for sharing them with us however you see fit. VoT makes me happy i thoroughly enjoy reading/listening to it so keep doing you and making wonderful stories!

Filip

Did you just imply that book 12 will be the last? 😤😡

Reno

If Valla had been killed by Thoargh.. there would have been words.

Taylan

I think you can pride yourself in the fact a lot of people didn’t like the alternate POVs since that’s at least some evidence that you’ve crafted such a compelling character in Victor :)

Moosh7

Much as I could keep reading VoT forever, I get that everything has to end at some point. There is one bright side to the end of the series coming up: Victor can get really powerful really fast pretty soon here without needing to worry about it causing problems for a later plotline. Looking forward to (metaphorical) Super Saiyan Victor!

Omar Jimenez

While I wasn’t enthused by the Thoargh chapters, and was surprised at the abrupt end to his shenanigans, I can’t deny that I’m quite satisfied to see the fucker gone. He was a good villain, in that I enjoyed hating him. Thanks! Not just for this chapter, but for the care you put into each one.

Plum Parrot

Means a lot, thank you :)

Classwhal

Hey Plum, I don't comment ever, but I've pretty much ready all of your books more than once and love your writing, I hate Thoargh with a passion, I love how you portray him though. And I have no complaints besides having to wait, but no pressure from me. I think the build up and waiting every week is what's making it difficult, but I'm not writer, that's your job. I just enjoy it a lot so just keep writing and do what you do best and I'll always support. Love you work dude. 🖤 Thanks for the chapter
