The lord at the end, Nobunobu, and his faction work with the Mimwaragumi, they mentioned it for a second in this arc, and we saw earlier that Takasugi was working with the Mimwaragumi, so in hindsight it isn't surprising he is working with Nobunobu as well. And as you said, when the father released Gin from prison, that scene looked familiar because that is right when he collapses into a graveyard and Otose finds him. And slowly we are starting to get Gin's full backstory, connecting the dots, little by little.

You know what makes it even better? The end where it shows Gin escaping in the flashback ties into him meeting Otose at the graveyard!
