Aw man, I got so excited that we would start the next arc friday! No worries though, there is next week! Kin stealing the show! This arc is sad for me, Gin built his life around these people only for them to forget him, the bravery it takes to go "I'm going to take my friends back," vs "what does it even matter if I am here or not, clearly I'm not important so I guess I'll leave/die," is a lot, especially for a character who really does depend on the people around him to get him through life.

NES/Famicom reference at 18:39. Games like the legend of zelda which had a save feature warn you to hold reset before pushing the powerbutton. (I think it was in the game manual) If you fail to hold reset before turning off the machine you risk possibly losing your saved file.

The 6 months Gin was on vacation is the time in between when last season ended and this season began. In the manga it’s explained that Gin was out for a week or so dealing with the Thorny arc, which in the manga took place directly before this arc. This is also why the Shinsengumi aren’t in this arc, because they’re still dealing with the fallout from it (Kondo and Sasaki probably pleading their case to Matsudaira, Toshi still in the hospital, etc).
