Tasty Tuesday (Egg Salad)
🕑 Added 2019-09-03 14:00:01 +0000 UTCThis recipe is a great source of calcium. We included all the egg shells in ours, but for a creamier texture you can omit them. This recipe can get to the consistency of cottage cheese if you leave out the shell (you can always add it later) and really mash up all the ingredients. You can also make it chunkier like we did!
Reminder: Eggs should only be given 2x per week to our pet parrots!
This recipe calls for:
6 hard boiled eggs
3 jalapenos
2 TBSP plain, fat-free yogurt
handful of chopped spinach
1 celery stalk

I made this last night at 1/3 scale and some ingredient substitutions (I only had vanilla Greek yogurt on hand, crushed dried chilli instead of jalapeΓ±os, cilantro instead of spinach). Holy crap, my cockatiels finished all of it in a few hours (1 teaspoon of veggie chop and 1 teaspoon of egg salad)! This is a great recipe. π

Half a boiled egg with a little of the rest of the ingredients would be plenty for my little GCC. She seems to love eggs, jalapenos, spinach and celery, so I imagine this will be a hit with her.

I think I am going to make this this week! Tango has been avoiding his veggies lately so maybe this a couple of times this week will get him back on track :) thanks for the awesome TT!
