This was generated using an earlier version of the game, so the results of the rolls might not line up to the version available now. However I still think this is a neat example of the kinds of stories that can be told with this game.

9 - The envoy discovers something new about the alien

Sure enough, I’m in a Russian ground control bunker right now, spending my time analyzing data downloaded from my satellite. The folks here seem really interested in this, like I’m going to be able to point at the alien’s heart or something like that. A few other friendly faces followed me here, including Chankul. I’m grateful for that, she’s one of the few folks on the envoy team that don’t seem to want to find some way to blow the alien out of the sky, or to even entertain the thought that such an act would be possible.
So I’m looking through thousands of different types of images of the alien’s form in different spectrums and wavelengths. It’s remarkable, it looks just like a solar projection in some ways, but in others it looks like my equipment is malfunctioning. It has vaporized iron and cobalt hanging like vapor inside. It should be hotter, hundreds of times hotter, than our sun. It should have been cooking us to death when we were parked underneath it in the Atlantic.
Rachel Chankul called me over this morning, I think it was around 6:00 am. I can’t remember the last time I slept for more than an hour at a stretch. It was a magnified photo of the alien, there were some blurry objects in the foreground. Looked like it might have been dust or something else obscuring the lense. The spectrometer at the time the photograph was taken showed that whatever it was was opaque. Judging by the distance they couldn’t have been more than a few dozen miles up, just above the alien. Too high for birds, and no planes were allowed in the area.
That’s when we heard the report from local reconnaissance. They were military aircraft, the only thing allowed to fly above the alien. They said they could see people. Hundreds of them suspended above the alien. Unresponsive and still.
