“Is all this really necessary? You're not even the bride.” Arya said annoyedly as she repeatedly stamped her feet impatiently.
Sansa glanced sideways at her sister who, despite everything, still retained her youthful impatience. Previously she would have been annoyed by her immature comment, but now she simply let it pass. Arya had been through a lot and had learned several new tricks, but what she would never be able to understand was how to be a proper Lady. But Sansa had come to accept that. Although, if she accepted Arya as she was, her sister should accept her too. So, with a slight annoyance, she replied to her sister.
“We are going to attend a royal wedding, Arya. Of course it is completely necessary, it is a duty that all nobles, both Lords and Ladies, must be dressed in their best finery to properly represent their House.“
”It's Jon and Dany's wedding, I don't think they really care how you dress.” Arya replied, playing down the importance of his statement. But before the conversation could escalate, her maids finished working on her hair and withdrew with a slight bow.
Sansa got up and looked at her work for a second before showing herself satisfied with what she saw before addressing her sister. But seeing her in the same clothes she had been wearing these last few days, trying to imitate the outfit their Father used to wear, with the addition of her Valyrian steel dagger and the sword that Jon had given her. Sansa let out a weary sigh at her sister's complete apathy towards dressing properly as befitted a lady.
At least she was fortunate that, as she said, she doubted that Jon and Daenerys really cared how she dressed.
“I think that at least one representative of House Stark should dress appropriately. And as Lady of Winterfell, I will represent our House with pride and decorum. On the other hand, you are lucky that the King is Jon and that he allows you many things.”
With a boastful and defiant smile, Arya replied.
“Benefits of being the favorite sister.”
At that Sansa simply made an annoyed face before moving towards her maids who quickly began to help her put on the elegant northern dress she had prepared for the occasion.
Her sister managed to remain silent for a few seconds, but eventually she spoke again impatiently.
“How long can it take you to put on a damn dress?”
“I could have prepared much earlier if the bride and groom hadn't decided to tell me that they would be celebrating their wedding in the middle of the night and in the middle of preparations for a war.” Sansa complained. “They could have chosen any other better time to get married.”
“Maybe they did it because they know there might not be another time to do it.” Arya said, reminding her of their situation.
Sansa had no answer to that and simply let the maids finish dressing her.

In the royal chambers, Daenerys was with her faithful friend and assistant Missandei, who was personally responsible for preparing her for her wedding. 'Wedding', she couldn't believe she was really getting married, not only willingly this time, but she was really happy to give herself to this man. She never would have imagined that when she returned to Westeros things would have turned out this way, that she would get to know a man as wonderful and impressive as Jon and that she would end up becoming his wife.
“I'm glad to see you so happy, Your Grace.” Daenerys was taken aback when she heard her friend say this. Smiling at her kind words, she replied.
“Thank you, Missy. I really am, despite the circumstances and being in the middle of a war, I am glad of the fact that I can marry the man I love, that I can call him my husband and that I am the woman who will be by his side, both in bed and in war."
Happy to witness the happiness of her friend and Queen, Missandei says to her.
“Although I was a little skeptical about him at first. Jon Snow has proven himself to be a good man with his actions, worthy of your affection and love.“
”He is much more than worthy, believe me. Besides, I feel that I am the lucky one to have Jon by my side. I always knew that by coming to Westeros there was the possibility of using my hand in marriage as a political weapon. The least I expected was that my future husband would at least be tolerable. I never imagined I would meet a handsome, heroic, stubborn and melancholy Northern King with whom I would fall ridiculously in love."
Missandei laughed happily at her Queen's words, but still remembering a matter they had not discussed in depth, the former Essosi slave asked her.
“Now that you will officially be his wife and thinking about whether we will survive the war. Do you still want to go ahead with your plan to create new heirs?“
”Of course, if we manage to defeat the dead, as we plan to do. We still have to plan a new future not only for Westeros, but for our house. And the future is children, children that unfortunately I cannot give Jon, but that does not mean that I will let my own incapacity cause the extinction of my House. Fortunately, my husband is more than capable of producing heirs, he just needs the right women, young, beautiful, fertile and most importantly women who have my trust and you are one of the women I have in mind, Missy. Of course, if you haven't already started to have doubts about this idea.
Nodding her head quickly, Missandei replied.
“No, I'm still more than willing. A little nervous if I'm honest, but if you trust Jon, I have every reason to do the same.”
Taking her friend's hand and giving her a mischievous smile, Daenerys said.
“I assure you that sleeping with Jon Snow is an experience every woman deserves to have. I promise you won't regret it, in fact, you might get addicted to my husband in the same way I have.“
”I would never dare to lust after your husband, Your Grace.” Missandei said, a little afraid. But Daenerys only laughed before responding playfully.
"To be honest, I wouldn't blame you, but don't worry, I wouldn't do this if I didn't trust you completely, Missy. You are a great woman and friend, and I am sure you will give Jon a wonderful and healthy son and that I am more than sure you will be a wonderful mother.”
“Thank you for granting me this honor, Your Grace. I promise not to betray your trust and I will do my best to please the King.”
Finishing the last braid in her Queen's complicated hairstyle, Daenerys finally stood up and said to her smilingly.
“I'm more than sure Jon will be more than pleased with you, Missy. Now help me put on my wedding dress, I'm going to marry the man I love."
The two women shared a youthful and fun moment before Missandei invited two more maids to help her get the Queen into her wedding dress.

Jon was already in the Gods wood, waiting for Daenerys to arrive. She was supposed to have arrived by now, but I understood that women could take longer to get ready, especially on special occasions like a wedding. In fact, his point was proven when he saw Sansa arrive less than a minute ago. So, he assumed that Daenerys would probably keep him waiting a little longer.
Turning his attention to his surroundings, he saw the small group of people they had invited. Neither Dany nor he wanted to have a feast or a big party, not with the war so close to them. In fact, they weren't even supposed to have a wedding now, anyone could say that there would be no worse time to decide to get married, but both he and Dany wanted to face their future as husband and wife and being monarchs, they could afford certain luxuries. Besides, he had never thought that he would actually get married. What Lady could possibly choose a bastard as her husband? And when he joined the Night's Watch, all those dreams were completely buried. He never would have imagined that a simple northern bastard who swore his life to the Night's Watch would end up marrying Daenerys Targaryen, the mother of Dragons.
Daenerys was not only the most beautiful and powerful Queen in Westeros, she was everything that any King or Lord could want in a wife: young, extremely beautiful and from a noble House. But Jon, unlike everyone else, could see beyond all that. Daenerys was a sweet and noble woman, as well as a righteous and kind Queen. He couldn't believe that such a woman had really fallen in love with him. And now he was going to marry her, surrounded by friends and family.
And as it could not be otherwise, most did not hesitate to approach him and offer their congratulations on his wedding. His brother Bran was the first of them, who, despite having taken a somewhat strange and apathetic attitude towards everything, he came up to him and shook his hand before sharing a meaningful hug with him and, as it could not be otherwise, leaving him with a curious message.
“Both your actions and Daenerys' actions brought you both to this moment. You two were meant to meet, I'm glad I'm here to witness your union."
Jon nodded and sincerely thanked him for his words. The next to congratulate him was his old friend Sam, who, like Bran, shook his hand and gave him a warm hug.
“I'm happy for you, Daenerys is a good woman and a great Queen."
Jon nodded at his friend's honest words and they shared another hug. Sam also mentioned that he appreciated the trust he had placed in him to officiate the wedding. Jon put an arm on his shoulder before mentioning it.
“You are one of my closest friends, Sam. And I don't doubt your abilities, I trust you will do a good job."
Unexpectedly, the next person to approach him was the former heir to Bear Island, Ser Jorah Mormont. It couldn't be said that they had a friendly relationship, but it wasn't a hostile one either. Jon, like most people, was more than aware of the feelings the man had for his Queen. But he was also aware of how much Daenerys trusted him, he was one of the few who had been with her from the beginning. And regardless of the crimes he had committed, Jon could respect that.
“Nervous?” the old knight asked him.
“About the wedding or the battle?” Jon asked him back with a bit of humor. Also laughing slightly, the knight asked him.
"Both?
“I've been in battles before, I can't say the same for weddings, much less did I imagine I would have one.“
Nodding, Jorah says
”She is a wonderful woman; you are a lucky man.”
“You don't have to tell me that, I know.”
Stretching out his hand towards him, Jon reciprocates and the two men shake hands politely before Jorah speaks again.
“I wish you good fortune, both of you. And I trust you will make her happy, she deserves it.”
“She does.” Jon replied.
After finishing his conversation with the knight of Bear Island, the next to approach was Tyrion Lannister.
“We haven't been able to chat much since our arrival, have we?”
“Believe me if I had the time, I wouldn't have bothered to catch up with you Lannister. You still owe me the story of how you became the Queen's hand.”
“You still owe me the story of how you went from being a member of the Night's Watch to a King.” Tyrion answered him back.
“I'm sure there will be plenty of time for war stories if we make it through this.”
“ If, we make it through.” The little Lannister reiterated before he began to speak again.
But Jon lost all interest in the dwarf's words as he caught a glimpse in the distance of the only person he really wanted to see. Daenerys arrived next to Missandei, her Queen wore an elegant and beautiful white gown, decorated in red with the symbols of her House. She was quite a vision, a goddess of winter. Finally joining at her side, Jon offers her his hand and she takes it more than happily, together they head towards the heart tree.
“You look beautiful.” Jon can't help but mention, smiling brightly at her, Daenerys replies.
“Thank you. You look very handsome yourself. Though really you always do.”
They both continued to gaze at each other with love and longing until their attention shifted to Sam who stood in front of the heart tree holding his book as he searched for the right page before beginning the ceremony. Both he and Daenerys had talked about it and in the end decided that they wanted to get married in the most traditional way for each of them. Despite only recently discovering that he was actually a Targaryen, Jon had grown up all his life in the North, he would always feel, speak and think like a Northerner, and Northerners only worshipped the Old Gods and wished to marry Dany with their blessing.
On the other hand, Daenerys was a Targaryen at heart, but having grown up in Essos she had not been instilled with the faith of the Seven. And besides she didn't really follow or believe in any gods, but she thought the best way to unite the last two Targaryen’s in the world would be with a traditional Valyrian wedding, they would unite their blood as one in the same way the Targaryen’s of old did when they dwelt in Old Valyria.
Sam cleared his throat a little nervously and looked at them both before saying.
“I believe you told me you wish to perform two ceremonies, right? A wedding in front of the eyes of the old gods and a Valyrian wedding, is that not so?”
Both monarchs nodded and Sam could officially begin the ceremony.
“Who comes before the gods tonight?” He recited loud enough for everyone in the Gods wood to hear.
Usually here it would be her father who would deliver her, but since he was not present, Daenerys decided to deliver herself.
"Daenerys of House Targaryen, I come here to marry. As a grown woman, true born and noble. I come to ask the blessing of the gods.”
“Who comes to claim her.” Sam went on.
This time it was Jon who stepped forward.
“Jon, of House Targaryen and Stark, Lord of Winterfell and the King in the North.”
This time addressing everyone present, Sam spoke.
“We are gathered tonight in the sight of the old gods and man to bear witness to the joyous occasion that is the marriage between Queen Daenerys and King Jon.”
Turning to Daenerys, he asks.
“Queen Daenerys, you take this man?”
Turning so that she can look Jon in the eye, she replies.
“I take this man.”
This time turning to Jon, Sam asks the same question.
“King Jon, you take this woman?”
Returning his gaze to Daenerys, he replies.
“I take this woman.”
Then, Sam asks them to hold hands before binding them together with a ribbon and saying.
“In view of the gods old and new. I seal these two souls, uniting them as one for all eternity. You may speak the words now.”
Jon and Daenerys turned fully toward each other and clasping each other with both hands, recited the oath in unison.
“I am hers and she is mine/I am his and he is mine, from this day to the end of my days.”
“Now it would be usually where you could kiss the bride, but we still have one more ceremony to perform.” Sam told them, bringing the attention back to him again. His old friend handed Jon a small dragon glass dagger.
Knowing what to do with it, Jon gently holding Daenerys by the face, lightly cut her lip using the sharp dagger. The blood began to spill slightly and using his thumb he collected a few drops and smeared it across her forehead. He then handed the dagger to Daenerys so she could do the same. Daenerys though not very experienced with a dagger, had a steady hand and did a good job. As his blood began to spill, she took it and spread it across his forehead as well. Taking the dagger from her again, Jon cut his hand before doing the same to Daenerys, this time he did it for her. As they joined hands and his blood began to mingle with hers, Sam began to recite the words that would seal their union.
“Blood of two. Joined as one. Ghostly flame. And song of shadows. Two hearts like embers. Forged in fourteen fires. A future promised in crystal. The stars bear witness. The vow spoken through time. Of darkness and light.”
Finishing speaking, he handed them a cup of wine, which he took and drank its contents before handing it to Daenerys and she do the same. Their hands joined, their blood mingling and spilling as one, both husband and wife gazed lovingly at each other before they finally sealed their union and souls with a passionate kiss.

There was no grand feast or celebrations after the wedding, both he and Dany just wanted to be in each other's company and that was exactly what they planned to do. Although, Jon had only recently had her, the hunger he felt for his now wife, it seemed, could never really be satiated, no matter how many times he had her.
They both practically stumbled into their rooms, quickly beginning to undress each other.
“Would you mind if I tore it?” Jon said to Daenerys amidst the furor of the moment when her intricate dress wouldn't budge.
Thankfully, Daenerys responded with a quick and forceful 'no'. And he unhesitatingly tore her pretty dress, fortunately Daenerys didn't really seem to mind too much and quickly pulled it off. Having her completely naked, Jon carried her in his arms and took her to their love bed.
Pulling her roughly onto it, Daenerys propped herself up on her elbows as she watched Jon crawl towards her like a hungry predator would, having caught its prey. “Did you wish for a son or a daughter?” Daenerys asked him, making symbols on his chest. “I bet you wished for a boy, all men always wish for a boy.”
“I was a bastard, Dany. I never really thought about children.“
On hearing that, Daenerys looked up at him and gave him a look that said she didn't believe him at all. Rolling his eyes, Jon opened up to her.
”There was a time when I did dream of the possibility of holding a child that I could call my own, one who would bear my blood and my name. At least until I reminded myself that I have neither name nor titles to pass on to him.“
”Well, now you have them, you have a name and titles to pass on to him. Your son will be heir to the Iron Throne and the Prince of Dragonstone.
Smiling at the beautiful thought, Jon asked her in return.
"And what about you, did you wish for a boy or a girl?”
“A girl, of course,“ she replied cheerfully.
Rubbing his back, Jon asked her,
”What else have you dreamed of, Dany?"
The young newlywed couple stayed up talking and dreaming about a possible and beautiful future. They both doubted that it could become a reality, but they didn't lose hope that maybe together they could make it happen.

Like their King and Queen, the rest of the castle could not sleep, they all knew that the walkers would arrive at any moment, they could not afford that. So, when the war horns sounded, everyone knew that the moment had arrived. They had one last war council where they went over the plan one last time, but at this point everyone already knew very well what their duty was and what they had to do.
Wishing his men good luck one last time and lifting their spirits by promising them that at the end of the night they would be victorious and see the dawn break again, Jon dismissed them.
Returning to their rooms, both Jon and Daenerys helped each other put on their armor. There was no need for words and by the time they finished, Jon took his wife's face in his hands and, staring into her beautiful violet eyes, gave her one last kiss. He tried to deepen the kiss, wanting to savor and remember her sweet taste, but Daenerys pulled away quickly and gave him an angry look.
Jon understood her anger very well, she didn't want him to take this as a goodbye kiss, she wanted him to come back to her and reclaim her lips. And he planned to do everything humanly possible to achieve it.
Resting his forehead on hers, he said to her.
“It's time.”
Daenerys nodded and they both went outside. His army was already positioned as they had planned, Daenerys took his hand one last time and gave it a significant squeeze before letting go and walking towards Drogon. Jon would remain on the ground with his army, even though Rhaegal had managed to survive, he was still too injured and weakened to fly with him into battle.
He had just told him to hide in the Wolfs wood, Jon would only call on him if his help was extremely necessary. Taking a deep breath, he began to walk towards the front of his army, all the soldiers stepped aside when they saw him, Ghost was quick to join him. Positioning himself at the vanguard, Jon saw the huge storm slowly looming over them, everything would be in darkness if Winterfell were not shining brightly like a torch in the middle of the night.
But for him, that was not enough. So, addressing his commander, he gave his first order.
"We must light up the night. Open fire.”
His words initiated a chain of command that reached the thousands of archers positioned on the walls of Winterfell, resulting in thousands of flaming arrows being shot into the sky. For a few seconds, these arrows made it seem as if the sun had appeared, completely illuminating the battlefield and initiating the War for the Dawn.

The final battle is finally here. At first I planned to divide it into two chapters, but I think I've already kept you waiting long enough. So, I hope to be able to cover everything in one big chapter. That aside, I know that the winner of the poll was another, but I didn't want to have to publish two exclusive stories in a row. So, I decided to publish this chapter first, the next update will be the real winner of the poll and the next one will be my first Harry Potter One-Shot story. I hope to publish both stories before the end of the month. See you in the next one, until then.
