Am I using the best Essence for this scenario?
No.
Am I confident enough to not get fucked up from this?
No.
Am I am sure that the situation is fucked?
Oh, most certainly.
“Get back!” Punisher yelled, trying to protect me.
And I do appreciate the gesture, but at the moment he was just a human. If anything, he needed to get behind.
Not like there was anything wrong standing behind a woman.
“What even is that?” I asked, somehow feeling like I had seen it somewhere.
“That…” Punisher’s face morphed into a scowl, “I don’t know…”
“A HuMaN.”
It had a very sharp voice which was rather deep.
Quite the weird vocals.
Didn't make sense, but neither did seeing a black gooey monster with white markings around it.
Wait.
Is that…
“I think I know what it is.” I said, instinctively walking back a little. “And it isn’t good.”
“HuMaNs…”
It mumbled again, as his steps moved forward.
“What the fuck is it?” Punisher drew his gun, not taking the risk of drawing its aggro by shooting.
“This is the reason why the city set curfews at different places.” I fucking knew that it looked similar.
It's the fucking monster from back then.
“HuMaNs… DiE!”
The only hope I had of possibly escaping without drawing its aggro went down the drain with its deafening screech.
“Move out!” Punisher yelled, and he had a very good reason for that.
“Fuck!”
The black gooey monster was able to morph his arms into a sharp edged tentacle that shot at me with ridiculous speed and strength.
I wasn’t the most durable or even the fastest, so it took a ridiculous amount of energy to move away from the tentacle.
“KiLL!”
But thankfully, the next strike didn't reach me as the Punisher managed to deflect the tentacle with a perfect bullet shot.
“Bullets don't work…” The man gritted his teeth as the two of us saw the tentacle regaining its shape even after suffering the bullet shot.
Are we fucked?
I don't have Hercules’ strength or Nosferatu’s range.
What the fuck can we even do.
“FuNnY HuMaNs!”
Worse of all, it wasn’t without intelligence. It could fucking talk and predict our movements.
Only thing was that it wasn’t fluent in speech.
But that gave me a chance.
“What are you?” I yelled. Punisher looked at me with a look of ridicule, as if asking why I was trying to communicate with a monster.
But it was even smarter than I gave it credit for.
“TaLkInG WoN’T SaVe YoU HuMaN!”
It knew that I was trying to buy time.
“We ArE VeNoM!” It roared, “We EaT YoU!”
What did it mean by we?
Didn't matter.
“Dodge!”
I yelled as another tentacle flew towards Punisher.
“Motherfucker!”
The man shot repeatedly at the tentacle, not dodging, but deflecting it.
Bullets…
Bullets do no damage. It is barely making it flinch.
“WeAk HuMaNs!”
Shit.
If one tentacle was difficult to handle, now there were seven of them flying towards us.
I had no choice but to try to use my powers.
Jinxes.
“You freak!”
Unknown of the effect, I tried my best to ‘wish’ bad luck on the creature.
And while it did him no damage, it did none to me either.
“WhAt?”
The creature appeared confused as his tentacles never made their way to us, if anything, they hit each other or got tangled up.
“Take this, fucker!”
Taking the chance, Punisher threw a grenade at the creature and it did work –in a way.
The explosion damaged it's body and while it did recover, we saw it flinching back.
Did that hurt it or was it something else?
It seemed uncomfortable, not necessarily hurt but uncomfortable from the explosion.
“How many of those have you got?” I yelled at the man.
“Four.” He replied, “They won’t be enough.”
Of course, they won’t be.
But it did feel like something affected the monster.
Unfortunately, I didn't have the luxury to think as I saw a massive pole flying at me.
“Fuck.”
I squatted down, disgusted by the lack of physical strength I had.
“GaHaHaHa!” It laughed, the monstrous jaw glaring and dripping saliva. “DoDge AgAiN!”
It was playing with us. It considered us as toys –food.
Think Think Think!
What can I do?
“Wait no!”
I felt quite horrified seeing Punisher waste two grenades at once –causing the monster to flinch and stumble back.
It looked extremely uncomfortable but it definitely wasn’t the fire power or even the force that it got hit with.
If that was the case, bullets would have hurt him as well.
But it didn't.
“Do not waste the grenades!” I yelled, “We need them.”
I didn't know for what, but we definitely needed them.
Something about the grenade hurt the monster, the one that called itself Venom.
But what was it?
What hurt it!
Seeing it trying to attack again, I used my powers again.
I still wasn’t a hundred percent certain about the mechanisms of my power, so all I could do was make it trip and slip.
“GaH!” He roared out, “WhAt TrIcKs ArE YoU PlaYing hUmaN!”
Because I didn't know the mechanisms, I could only mess with the creator when it tried attacking.
I didn't have offensive abilities.
Wait.
I didn't.
I was a support.
What if…
“Punisher shoot!”
I wasn’t certain if I was a support, but if I was… I might a forgotten a very basic concept.
“Move aside!” Punisher yelled and pulled out his pistol, the rifle’s bullets were already out.
I need to focus on his gun.
If I was a support, debuffs and bad luck wasn’t the only thing I was capable of.
*BANG!”
I could also buff.
“gaHH!”
Venom stumbled back, the shockwave making him lose his stance.
Fuck it works.
I don’t know what is affecting him, but it makes him uncomfortable.
“Shoot again!” I yelled, figuring out another way.
Punisher didn't waste a second and shot another bullet straight at Venom’s head.
And this time I saw something insane.
“GAAAAA!”
It screeched and it genuinely felt pain.
I didn't just buff the bullet, I jinxed the monster too.
It wasn’t able to move away, it lost its balance and the bullet landed straight at its face.
But that's when I noticed something.
The buff didn't simply increase the explosive strength of the bullet. It also increased the explosive noise of the bullet.
Was it not the bullet that it was annoyed with?
Was it the sound that made it uneasy?
Even if it was, we had no way to create such a sound that could cause any major damage to it.
But wait, what if.
“You still have two grenades, right!”
The Punisher nooded, his face didn't look that good. He did lose a lot of blood in his earlier fight, so he was barely holding up.
But if I want to amplify the sound, how do I do it?
I cannot just make it go Kaboom on a bigger scale.
“Wait no.”
Buffs.
Can I buff certain aspects of the grenade?
How have my buffs been working so far? It has been increasing all the aspects.
I have been focusing on the item or the person to buff and debuff, what if I focus on the noise.
“Punisher! Throw a grenade!”
Let's make it work!
“I don’t know what you are planning, but here you GO!”
Punisher used his full strength to throw the grenade, his face pale from the lack of blood.
Work!
Noise.
What is noise? Fluctuations in the air pressure, so I knew what to focus on.
Buff the grenade, buff the air pressure.
How? I don't know. I just hope that it works.
Fuck science, magic it is!
“Move!” He yelled as he saw the grenade landing next to Venom.
And after focusing on buffs, I barely had any time to use debuffs.
But I somehow did manage to do so.
Screw moving away, screw the area of explosion.
I just wanted to get rid of this fucking monster.
And after exhausting everything, after using every plan that I could think of.
I stood just a few feet away from Venom.
And fuck me but the grenade worked!
*BOOOOOM!*
“*AHHHHHHHH!*”
For the first time, I saw the black goo trying to escape.
The entire creature deformed, trying to run away from the place.
But I saw something even more horrifying.
“Is that…”
It wasn’t just a monster.
“It is…”
Both Punisher and I were horrified as while the creature tried to escape, it tried to leave behind something.
It wasn’t a single creature.
“That is a human…”
Neither of us could see the face, but the creature was attached to a human –a blonde man. It tried to leave the human as if it was a parasite.
“It's running away!” Punisher yelled as the creature pulled itself out of the explosion and started to slide away from the place –dragging the human attached to it.
“No stop!” I yelled at the man, “Don't chase.”
We had no fucking way to kill it. If anything, we might die if we chased after it.
But it was possibly my first encounter.
And an encounter that wasn’t going to be the last.
“It is too strong…”
Unknown to me, it was possibly the weakest one of the species that I was going to face.
