I thought similarly. But, I wonder if aside from a little cloudy poetic licence, it doesn't lend to some coherence without being 'unnecessarily' verbose. Magic as story, theatre, song, practioners and temple doings was normal. It was nothing like rpg worlds, the closest they had to it are in their arts, depicting literal gods. The story wouldn't work right if they prostrated before every adventurer with magic skills.

I see your point. Oracles were a respected position, one with a connection the above. I'm thinking their ideology will shift once their theologists start getting abilities related to their gods. Battle buffs for those praying to Mars, truth detection from Minerva, last rights for Pluto.

Thanks for the chapter!

Thanks for the chapter. Still going to mention that a Roman citizen would not have an issue with his men having magic. The separation of magic from divine powers is still very recent in that era. While Witchcraft would exist, it would only attribute to witches. Not to seers, diviners or other magical professions of that time. The notion that all magic is bad is more of a medieval European thing. In Asian regions for example magic to this day is only a tool and as good or bad as it's users. He could have concerns about the new powers for sure, but he shouldn't call it Witchcraft. At least that's my knowledge of magic during that time. Though I am not an expert and might be wrong.
