Josh

Aw that’s a fascinating idea that I hadn’t considered! Or, like, a pony in a field but it’s a Vigo the Carpathian pony that is haunted and alive and simply drives a person mad. Like Pickman’s Model vibe maybe. It’s just a great device to work the imagination, loved the story and thanks for responding!

Soren Narnia

I recall that as I was writing the story, for a moment I imagined the photo was of nothing more than a pony in a field--but there was something about the nature of the type of person who would intentionally seek out the most disturbing picture in the world that morphed the image inside their minds into something that sought out their deepest fears and brought them raging upwards into their consciousness...

Josh

I loved these stories! And was particularly intrigued by the screen-sharing one. Like, what could the image be? That has such a strong impact on folks? Is it an image of the depths of a hopeless hellscape? Is it human bodies just all mangled up? That doesn’t seem like it would be enough to cause what happened. This is an old post so not sure if anyone will see this, but what are we thinking the picture was of?!

Jill E Merrill

Thanks. I've been around a long time so I'm sure I listened to it but my memory's been around a long time too and I'm sure I've forgotten it. I'll give it a re-listen. Maybe. He's so creepy...

Kayley Grissom

Admittedly, I would love to watch a skit entitled “Whatcha doin’?” I laughed just thinking about tapping on random peoples windows and shouting that. Thank you for these Soren. They are real treasures.

Sean Herlihy

Thank you

Tanya S.

Loved all of these. I'd really like to see (hear?) a more expanded world of the guy in sleeperette. I also got a laugh out of the guy looking up facts about the jarprechaun on National Geographic (also the callback to 'colony,' one of my favorite stories!).

David

I had to go watch Sleeperette and Server Unknown after this…

Audrey Riddell

Really loved this one! I always like these short story anthologies so this was a treat to listen to this month.

K. Lem

Might want to check out “excursion” from 8/7/2020…

Lori K.

Bucket list. Or not.

Soren Narnia

I have not!

Lori K.

Thank you for the nod to “The Hammer” as the hometown of poor doomed Ms Finch! Have you been?

buddhapugz

Bravo 🙌 Your quintet inspires. (Seems Mozart & Bizet have company 😉)

Daniel Greene

Nice drop! Thanks Soren!

Daniel Greene

I came here to say this but knew in my heart it had already been said. I love the small ties to other stories especially ones like this where we got a full background of the baker’s origins. Now if we could get a more in depth story about the meanderings of our dear confidant, father hall!

Ryan Fahey

It’s nice to see that when some villains are unceremoniously exited from the playoffs, they dust themselves off and begin baking for next year’s tournament.

Lori K.

I think it’s ceruse; has that whole Elizabeth the 1st ginger thing going on

Soren Narnia

Now available over the counter under the brand name Zingoflerm

"So it’s only been a month but we’re connecting in a way that makes me feel really seen. You know? It's like you understand parts of me I didn't even know existed. I usually run away from vulnerability, but with you it feels so natural. Have you tried lagoon?”

Lee Wilkins

Just awesome, second listen inbound! Thank you for these 👍🏼

K. Lem

Whoa- The Baker’s backstory!!! I love it.

Soren Narnia

I remember that one!

Jennifer Gatlin

Loved it, I have listened to it twice already

Soren Narnia

It’s a pretty insular community; they definitely all know each other.

Cole B

For a second I thought screen-share was getting “inside-baseball” on the brokerage mentioned way back in photographs

Scott Lloyd

So frightening and funny and enjoyable. Thank you for these! Re: jarprechaun, the alternative, final sentence that immediately came to my less sophisticated mind: “***k that ***t.” But I prefer your style! Thanks, again…

Hilde Marciniak

That lady baker, she gets around. I'll keep my eye out for her here, in Southern Oregon. °○°

Soren Narnia

Yes indeed, that’s the Baker….

Soren Narnia

Yeah, that’s essentially the “sleeperette” video… and yes, the way-too-subtle implication is that the blind psychic “sees” things (“not helpless, not at all”), but after a couple of previous sentences illuminating this were cut for time, maybe that phrasing is just a wee bit too ambitious…

Soren Narnia

What the…? 😜

Kiri

Oh my gosh the jarprechaun is both hilarious and actually really really terrifying to me. Just hearing where it was gave me horrible chills but oh my gosh the conversation they have is hilarious and the way it talks reminds me of Nathan Fielder

Jonathan Goldstein

Favorite new episode in months — great job!

Firelink Shrine

Wow! Perfect end to my day! Thank you!

Jill E Merrill

Guess maybe you changed your mind about the airport section during your flight...

Jill E Merrill

Question 2. The baker was the same baker from "the crack," right? I love that story. I must have listened to itl twenty times or more. Not sure why, but I find it very calming when I'm anxious. What can I say? I'm weird. Anyhow thanks so much for this collection. Took my mind completely off the pain of badly bruised ribs gotten while almost falling out my kitchen window while cutting some encroaching vines. If the vines were sentient it might have made a good story...

Jill E Merrill

I loved these. Really cool combination of stories. A couple of questions. 1 . Was that story really the text of the silent (except for ambient sounds) video of "sleeperette"? I have to watch it again. I loved it but never quite understood it. The only part of the story I didn't understand was how some hangers could be there last thing a blind man ever saw? Sorry if I missed your already answering this. Guess he saw it psychically?

buddhapugz

"Five by five" 😘 Faith, Buffy The Vampire Slayer

Thorne Russell

Andronicus Super Cat and the Boys!!!

Mike M.

Well that definitely made the ride home easier! Great to watch the accompanying videos too. Nice to see you experimenting with flash fiction. “It learned to eat!” But is it allergic to shellfish?

Noelle

Multi story posts are like Christmas every time

Lee Wilkins

Yaaahhh perfect to listen to in a lonely hotel room in spain at 00.30...

Soren Narnia

Real house, real trees, I’m real, you’re not!

Christopher Helton

Holy shenanigans, that artwork! Is that a real house? Are those real trees? Are you real? Am I real? I need more pizza.

Volt Ninebanger

A case of delay of gratification for me. Could listen now while I'm packing but nope going to wait until lights down trolley gone seatbelt sign on and a lovely way to pass a 3 hour flight. Tanx Soren the timing couldn't be better.

Lori K.

It’s a gloomy eerily misty post-Ernesto day here. Perfect timing. Thank you, Soren.

Mike M.

Fantastic, just what I needed for my commute home later! Many thanks!!!

Cameron Ulam

Always look forward to these notifications 📢 🤩 …new nightmare fuel ! Woot!

Chad Talboom

Literally just finished the Three for Halloween from a few years back. Incredible timing

Michael B. Jordan B. Peterson

Babe wake up, new nightmare fuel just dropped!

Charles Pickering

Now just need to wait for the sun to set!
