MHMR UPDATE ($12 closing, KickStarter idea)
🕑 Added 2022-05-24 15:59:53 +0000 UTCRead in full for the complete context, or just look for the underlined bits.
So I’m sure a lot of you under this tiers really don’t mind giving me the funds every month simply just to support me in general and don’t mind paying $12 a month just to read a single page of MHMR “My House, My Rules” every month, but… that isn’t fair to you at all.
I’m incredibly sorry for the lack of pages being made I wish I was pumping out a page every week. It sucks and it makes me feel so shitty to be charging $12 for a single page every month. I want to drop the $12 tier and make the comic available for everyone under $8 to read, but I’m not sure if Patreon should still be the way to go honestly for this comic that is.
I’ve been thinking of maybe making a Kickstarter for the comic instead. Why a Kickstarter/IndieGoGo…? Welp let me just explain why I’m having so much trouble finishing MHMR…
(This is just an idea, nothing is final yet.)
I still live with my parents and they’re well aware that I make my funds online. I don’t have a reliable job technically because I’m living off their internet and I need the internet to work. They let me use the internet, but I have to pay them (parents) a few hundred every month to stay with them. I would get another job and make this an side thing for me, but I don’t have a driver’s license to get a job.
Not only do I have a rent bill, but credit cards. Credit cards paid for my IPad and Pen so I can draw all these amazing things for you and me, but I have to pay them back money. I like to pay these in hundreds because it pays them off faster, obviously.
When you need to pay two people a lot of money, you gotta make a lot of money not only for them, but yourself. So I have to take a lot of commissions. It’s just life, for me at least. The problem with this though is… I barely have a time and energy now to work on my comic book I’ve been trying to finish for years now, and I’m now very upset that I feel like I’m making broken promises again.
I REALLY want to make this comic and it would mean a lot to me for me to print this out and have it finished faster than the next 3 more years to make this comic that other artists if they were making it could finish it within a year.
I know it’s my fault, so I apologize for my lack of action. My energy hasn’t been the greatest, time is poorly managed, and even though I’m on Adderall now, I still have a hard time getting this done.
Now… why would Kickstarter help me? Welp, it’s pretty simple. I can ask for an amount that can help support me pay off bills for the next few months, then pause my Patreon for a bit, maybe just stop taking money from tiers $20 and $30 so I can still let those who wanna support me still, but not the Kickstarter stay and continue to do so.
(Reminder this is still just a idea and a thought)
If I do try this, I’ll need to commit to the comic full focus so I can finish it and get it printed. I already have a friend who is in contact with Rabbit Valley (basically the same people who printed Shine by Babystar) and the story is already made, I just have to draw it now. Again, not final, just an idea I thought of this morning.
Again, I’m sorry to everyone in the $12, you might not mind, but I do. I feel bad and if I’m not gonna commit to this Kickstarter thing, then I’ll need to take down the $12 tier and make it available for everyone under the $8 tier instead. At this rate, I think the $8 tier would be a more fair price for the comic right now, but you’ll still be able to view other exclusive drawings and such.
Date on when I’ll taking down the tier should be near the end of this month. If you wish to stay, the only opinions right now is the $8 tier, you’ll still be able to view exclusives and other early bird posts, just won’t be paying $12 a month.
