As for me, I had my ups and down, some not-so-great and some amazing things. Certainly not a bad year, but significantly less stable than expected.
I don't think I talked about it publicly, but I had a bit of a mental breakdown and quit my job in late august, and finding a new job has proven difficult due to various circumstances outside of my control (in short, companies don't wanna hire right now, unless you're the perfect match for their job offers they get cold feet and it sucks). I should start a new job in early january, but until I actually clock in I'm not taking anything for granted.
However, I used that free time to try diving into art full-time, and it's honestly been the best four months of my life! I got to draw more than I've ever drawn before, develop a sketch style I'm madly in love with, and overall have a very fun time drawing a million things.
It was an amazing experiment, but as much as I want it to keep going forever, it's still not enough to pay the bills, haha. Nonetheless, your support made it possible in the first place, and I'm incredibly grateful for that <3
But enough ranting about a year that's practically over! What's planned for 2025?
Firstly, we have a huge backlog of art, so I can ensure a steady stream of art while I get used to my new job! Over a dozen arts of various kinds at the time of writing :3 (and some I'm particularly proud of)
Secondly, pixel art and animation! I've been eyeing getting into Aseprite for the better part of the year, and a friend gave me a copy for christmas. Now I have no excuse to not do pixel smut, hehe. What I'll do with that, I do not know yet. Maybe it'll just be a fun side thing, maybe it'll take a larger place in my art, we'll see!
Thirdly, I'm resuming my two medium-term projects: the comic and tarot cards! I want to finish these, then I'll actually be able to think of future projects without circling back to "oh right I haven't completed these yet".
And lastly, speaking of future projects... there's one that's been on my mind for years. If you've known me for a while, you may know what I'm talking about. If not, you probably don't. I don't want to say too much for now, not until I'm ready to work on it -if it ever happens to begin with- but there's something big I want to revive, and I can only do it once I've properly made room for it. We'll see how that goes.
I think that's it for me today! What a long post, longer than intended - it feels strange to have well-defined plans like that. But yeah, I wish you all the best, and thank you once again for your support, it means so much to me. Every year that passes further convinces me that I want to make art for the rest of my life, and it's only possible thanks to people like you.
