DxD - Fist of Justice: Prologue

‘Huh? Where am I?’ He incredulously thinks.
He tries to turn his head, but he found he couldn’t, because he doesn’t have one. Usually he’d feel panic, but then he found that he could ‘see’ himself, he was a blob of white ectoplasm, floating in space like a round squid.
“Ah, sorry for being late.” He hears a voice suddenly, and with it, a dark silhouette arrives in front of him.
‘Who’re you?! And what is happening to me?!’ He tries to speak, but he can’t so he just thinks it very hard.
“Well, sorry to break it to ya lad, but you’re dead. A plane crashed on your neighborhood while you were asleep, its left wing went straight through your apartment and killed you instantly.” The figure speaks. “As for good ol’ me? Well, I’m just part of a cabal of what you call ROB’s, we’re very bored, you see. So we do what any ROB does and chuck unfortunate souls like yours in other worlds and watch you go at it.”
A white lines form in the being’s pitch black face, making the smile emoji. “You can call me Dick, though.” He says.
It took a moment to process the information, once Dick’s words registered he expected to panic, to disbelieve and fall into hysterical madness, but none of that came.
‘Why aren’t I a sobbing mess by now?’ He mused.
“Ah… You’re a soul right now, so no physical body means no epinephrine to give you anxiety or norepinephrine to make you cry, you have emotions in so much as a human mind does, but none of the physical reactions that are caused by them. It is a very enlightening process; it gives you the ability to deal with your emotions in a very safe manner, it’s one of the reasons we don’t make our offer while you’re alive, we can’t have your mind broken while we’re trying to talk, can we?”
‘Uhh… Alright?’ He thought. ‘So, what’s next? You said there’s some sort of offer, right?’
“Yes!” Dick claps his hands. “Again, I’m part of a group of semi-omnipotent beings who’re trying to sate our boredom, so what we do is we send people who are dead to interesting worlds along with whatever float our boat at the moment and watch what you do, it’s like our version of streaming services. The offer we give to people like you is simple, we’ll take you to a world of our choice with some boons, or we send you back to your original destination, whatever it may be.”
‘Well, first, I’d like to ask, why me?’
“Ah, that!” Dick chuckles. “In those stories you like to read the answer would usually be that you’re no one special and that you’re just some random schmuck, but that’s not the case.” A paper file suddenly appears in the silhouette’s hand. “In fact, there are several criteria we put over our clients, first your original destinations should not be something they particularly enjoy, per example, you were going to limbo, you aren’t particularly religious and you were neither a saint nor a villain, so you were originally going to drift in the formless ether until your soul dissipated or you reached a state of nirvana.”
“Second, is that you’ve gotta have morals, as semi-omnipotent beings we have too much of a perspective to not be cynical, but we’re also not assholes, we don’t like watching people enslaving, murdering, and just doing whatever hedonistic thing comes to mind, so you gotta have that.”
“Third, you gotta have the drive to do something with your life, if we pick any random someone and chuck him to another world it is more likely than not that he’d just sit around doing nothing, we like slice of life, but 100%? Not at all.”
“And for the world we’re choosing for you, there are some additional criteria the first of which is that you have to be at least somewhat familiar with violence, we’re going for an action/adventure themed isekai this time, so it’s par for the course.”
“The last one is that you have to be familiar with the world through the fictional media available in your world, since we’re this is what you would call an ‘oc-insert’ type of scenario.”
“You fulfill all those criteria, obviously, you’re not an asshole, you’re not a kid, but you’re pretty young and ambitious, and you grew up in a rough country so you’re no stranger for violence… Plus, you read both the novel and manga of Highscool DxD, so you’re pretty familiar with setting.”
‘Wait, what? You’re sending me to DxD?!’
“Well… A different version of it, one could even call it more realistic. The whole main cast and pantheons like the Biblical, Hindu, and Shinto ones are the pretty much the same, but it’s very much different in that it’s actually MORE distinct. The Taoist and Buddhist pantheons actually exist for one, and are as powerful as one would expect. The Greek and Norse ones aren’t nerfed to hell and back, some like the Celtic, Aztec, and Mesopotamian pantheons exist too, and the power ceiling is much higher, including Great Red and Ophis.”
‘Why would you do that?! Can’t I just go to vanilla DxD and hug some boobies or something?’
“Haha, no. Again, we’re not assholes, in the original continuity Issei and co. save the world and everything is fine, if we do send you there and you screw something up then you’re gonna doom billions of sentient beings to an unfortunate end, we’re not gonna risk that. Plus, it’ll be boring as fuck.”
‘Fuck man…’
“Look, even if I wanted to, I can’t, it’s a rule in our organization to never send our clients in worlds like that since it poses too much risk, we’re sending you to this version of DxD because even with the main cast, there’s no real guarantee that the world is going to be fine, of course, the opposite is also true, we don’t know if things will go to shit, but we usually try to both get entertained and do some good at the same time, kill two birds with one stone and all that.”
‘So you’re sending me because I’m more likely to shift the balance to a more favorable outcome?’
“Yes, and we’ll actually get some original content not seen in the canonical work.”
‘That too... I guess’
“Right.” He closes the files with a clap. “Now, to get into the meat of the matter, how we’re gonna send you and what boons you’re gonna get.”
‘Yeah, let’s do that.’
“Now, we think a drop-in would be best, we’ll send you in a new body with an established (fake) background so that you’ll blend in, reincarnation is too much of a hassle, I’m not gonna do the calculations in order to create the perfect circumstances for couples with the desired genes to do the deed and have a stillborn baby so that you get to relive your childhood, nuh huh.”
‘That’s… fair? I guess? But how does that work exactly, I mean I read worm, and I know that someone like me just appearing out of nowhere is gonna alert people with powers relating clairvoyance and some shit.’
“You don’t have to worry about that, we altered fate’s string so that it’ll be part of it in the first place, your appearance is not gonna register as an action without cause, so people with future sight won’t get a seizure all of a sudden. This does make you vulnerable to their predictions however, so it’s kind of a double-edged blade, I guess.”
‘I see…’
“Now, for the boons! In this instance our viewer polls favored a template scenario.” A giant roulette appears behind him, with the colorful paint and lights and everything.” So! In this roulette there are the names of all particularly powerful characters in familiar media, none are too OP, but none are too weak either. So, you’re going to roll for one of them, upon which you’ll ger THEIR entire roster of abilities from the get go.”
‘When you say particularly powerful, what do you mean?’
“It means that if you’re lucky, you could get someone slightly weaker than Serafall or Falbium Asmodeus from the series.” He shrugs. “Where you’re going, they’re more powerful, but not by much.”
‘Sweet, let’s go!’
“I like the energy! So! Since you can’t see any names, instead of me just spinning it and waiting for it to stop, the roulette is just gonna roll until you tell it to stop! Whatever it lands on, you get!”
“Are you ready?!”
‘Ready!’
“Alright!” Dick spins the roulette.
At first, he tries to use his newly discovered ‘Soul Sight’ in order to try to see the names on the circle, but no luck, so after a while mulling it over, he just shrugs.
‘Stop!’ He thinks.
The roulette slowly slows down, rolling ever so slightly to its destination. He still couldn’t see the names, so after it lands on a particular name he turns his sight to Dick, waiting for an answer.
“Ooooh! That’s an interesting one!”
‘Just get on with it man.’ He urges Dick.
“Alright, alright. Drumrolls!” The sound of drumrolls echoes in the area. “You got… Monkey D. Garp, The Hero of the Marines!”
‘Hells yeah!’ He screams.
“That’s a very lucky one, Garp is pretty powerful, and the skill integration should be pretty seamless since all he knows is to punch shit. We’re also going to switch Haki into an inherent ability for your life-force, which is lucky, since with Garp’s physical strength and will your Touki is gonna get unlocked pretty much from the get go.”
“I have to warn you though, while implementing Garp’s template some of his quirks and mannerisms are going to slip through, so to say. Especially in this case since Haki is related heavily with one’s mental state.”
‘I see… I don’t mind as much as I think I should, Garp is a very admirable man after all.’
“That’s the way to look at it!” Dick claps his hands. “Now, this isn’t over, there is an additional option available to you.”
‘Which is?’
“You know in those gaming fanfics where the MC gets to roll for perks and has to get an equal number of drawbacks to compensate?”
‘Yeah?’
“Well, this is kinda similar, so instead of giving you absolutely OP perks and drawbacks that aren’t really drawbacks in exchange, here we’re trying to determine the direction of further ground, mainly if you wish to specialize or not.”
‘What do you mean?’
“Well, Garp is very powerful even in DxD. But he’s still far from the strongest, and there are a lot of ways for you to improve, whether it is magic, cursed/holy items, or just typical bone breaking physical training. The question is, do you want to go full meathead and punch people to death? Which in this case we’re going to roll for a perk that’s going to help you do that in exchange for a drawback that’s going to limit you to that option, or we can just leave it be and we’ll send you to your destination.”
‘Well, I have to think about this, I mean if I wanted to use magic and stay human I’ll have to study enough math and physics to have a PhD, no? Or I’ll have to turn myself into a devil, make a pact with some deity or whatever. I mean I’m getting dropped as a human, right?’
“100% Human DNA, that’s it.”
‘Well, I want to stay human, I like the idea of being one and beating up the supernatural races even with the handicap, so there’s that. Plus, I’m not really the type to study, and with what you said about the personality bleed from Garp then I doubt I’ll get better at it. So, I guess fuck it, let’s roll.’
“Hells yeah!” Dick exclaims. “One Perk and Drawback coming up!”
Unlike the roulette, the results were pretty much instantaneous, appearing over Dick’s head along with a convenient explanation.

You can gobble up as much as you want and your spiritual digestive track will just purify that shit like it’s new!

You’re in a magic world, with mighty wizards and powerful sorcerers? Well, too bad, now that shit is to you like a dictionary to a dyslexic person! You have no physical ailments that stop you from learning; it’s just that you just can’t understand how it fucking works! A single spell will take you hundreds of years to learn, Youjutsu? Nope. Human Magic? Nope. Devil’s imagination bullshit? Also nope. It’s a barbarian’s life for me!
“Yikes.” Dick comments. “Great perk, but that drawback, oof.”
Dick shrugs. “What can you do? Want to roll another one?”
If he had eyes to glare at him, then he would’ve done it enough to laser vision his ass.
‘No.’ He lets out. ‘I think not.’
“Well, that’s a bummer.” He claps his hands. “Now, you’re gonna get dropped in into this fine gentleman here.” A holographic projection of a teenage old male, pretty handsome, he had generic brown hair and eyes, and his features were also very jovial. “Meet Alexander Roberts, generic teenage orphan who went from foster home to foster home until he reached eighteen and graduated High school, then got promptly kicked out of the system.”
“You’ll appear somewhere in New York, with all the necessary papers and some clothes in a suitcase. We altered the relevant people’s memories; they’ll remember you as that distant guy who everyone knows but no one actually talks with much. It’s gonna be 2013 so you have a year or so before canon begins, and you have to figure out how to pay for stuff yourself, so Ciao! See you after you inevitably die!”
‘Wait wait, I still gotta-‘
He couldn’t finish his sentence as he suddenly blacked out.
