Ava's Aegis: The Rebirth of Medusa

Perseus slid silently between the breathless would be heroes, his mirrored shield guiding him carefully through. Uo their he could see Medusa coiled in a mound, sleeping upon her dais. He inched closer.
Medusa stirred as the snakes of her once beautiful hair moved with a sense of alarm.
Medusa rose, her head eyes opening to find the glint of Perseus's shield and the flash of his sword. Suddenly, she could feel herself tumblingly and twirling seeing for only a second the lone hero and the writhing mass of her body twitching on the dais as her head tumbled to rest at the bottom of her steps. Then all was black and silent.

In a final cruel act Minerva bound Medusa's head into her Aegis a magic shield to trapping Medusa's spirit and forcing her into servitude as penance for allowing herself to defiled by Neptune in Minerva's temple.

As the transformation took hold, Medusa's spirit claimed Ava's body as its own. The young curator's beauty was forever lost to the monster that now dwelled within. Medusa's spirit was now in control, and it was hungry for power.
But Medusa soon realized that she was not alone in her new form. A life stirred within her, a life that was not her own. It was the child of Neptune, the fruit of the forbidden love that had led to her downfall so many centuries ago. The child's power coursed through her veins, a burning, pulsing energy that seemed to fill her with a newfound sense of purpose.
Medusa rose from the storage room, her eyes blazing with a fierce inner light. She gazed upon the world with a newfound sense of wonder, driven by the power of the child within her and the fury of her own imprisonment. The world would soon learn to tremble at the mention of her name, for Medusa, the monster, was reborn and soon too would a god walk the earth from her womb.
The descendants of Neptune and Minerva would rue the day they took everything from Medusa.
