Man, I used to be terrified of thunder as a kiddo. Interestingly, what helped was someone telling lil' me that every heavy thunder strike was angels above getting a strike in bowling and all the pitter patter of the rain was a standing ovation. It kinda flipped the script and I would cheer whenever thunder roared 😅
