ANATOMY OF A COVER: My Boyfriend is a Superhero #5 - Cover C sketches.

Today, we're going to take a look at COVER C of MY BOYFRIEND IS A SUPERHERO #5.
ALEXANDER, FRASER, and I like to call this one "THE LONGEST GOODBYE" cover.
Of all the MBIAS #5 covers, this is the one that went through the most concept iterations and evolution. I whipped up a very quick concept thumbnail of this one, and from that point, Alexander sketched another four.
For a while, we debated whether to include FENG on it with BYRON and FELIX. All of his concepts could have made beautiful and super sexy covers, but ultimately, the three of us all decided to go with the sketch that featured only our main boys, BYRON and FELIX... and their strange, green, glowing ghost friend, too, of course.
The challenge here was including the "ghost" without giving away his true identity. I mean, we didn't want to spoil the plot twist inside the comic. So, once again, we did what countless comic book covers have done before this one... we fibbed a little!
We made the ghost a more generic, "featureless" apparition, and voila... a super HOT cover of our guys going at it, being surprised by an otherworldly phantom! Which, in our defence, DOES in fact happen in the story!
