Map Set 29 Gold (Coastal Peninsula and Swamp Necropolis)
🕑 Added 2022-09-01 06:55:02 +0000 UTCHere's our newest map set with 2 new maps!
The first is Coastal Peninsula (45x35), a wide swath of beachfront with plenty of space for water activities. A deep underwater trench cleaves through the ocean's surface nearby however; who knows what creatures lurk in its depths? Well some of the local fisherman do, as some of their quarry end up inverting their insides out due to the sudden pressure change. But a few of the older crab fisherman have seen strange lights in the depths of that chasm during the nights when they go out to check their cages.
Encounter Ideas:
- Strange Rituals: Some of the locals link their boats into circles over the dark chasm, reciting eldritch prayers. A professor at the nearby university has asked the players to find out more about these rituals and report back with their findings.
- Seabeast Arise: A massive tentacled beast has awaken in the chasm's depths and set its sights on the village. The villagers beg the adventurers for their aid.
- Fishy Stories: A local fisherman needs help figuring out how his friend is able to catch so much fish. He wants him followed when he goes out to find the source of his success.
The second map is Swamp Necropolis (40x50), the ruins of an ancient burial grounds used by kings and commoners alike. Of course, the undead roam these old graves as well, looking for living souls to join them in their eternal torment. A cult has recently started to hold their death rituals here, and they don't look kindly on those who would interrupt their worship.
Encounter Ideas:
- Cultist Removal: A nearby magistrate is tired of farmers complaining to him about cultists stealing and sacrificing their livestock. He's willing to pay a good amount of coin and perhaps overlook any previous misdeeds the party has committed.
- Preferential Gravesite: A noble that believes he's dying soon wishes to be buried in the necropolis with some of his ancient ancestors. He wishes to be escorted there and protected a few days until he dies of natural causes.
- Burial Ground Burglary: A local burglar believes the cult in the necropolis is being run by a bunch of nobles and she swears their stashing donations somewhere in the large crypt. She stole some of the cultist's robes and needs help sneaking in to find the loot.
