The recipe that worked the best so far is definitely this silver plating formula. It deposited a beautiful silver layer on this beaker as well as the glass slides I had in the solution.
Of the failures, the worst so far is the "fuse alloy" that does not melt at the cited temperature. In fact, after doing some reading, it turns out that no combination of Bi, Pb, and Sn will melt at a temperature that low. Even the eutectic alloy melts at just barely under the boiling point of water. However, a blob of the metal does still work as a fuse, and becomes a puddle quite quickly when a kiloamp is dumped through it.

I love eutectics. I gave a lecture on galinstan once for inorganic. Forgive me for not being up to date on this book. That sounds like a lot of fun. Would maybe need to bismuth plate glass but idk if you’d get all the colors like when it cools in air.
