How big of a laser can I jam in a keychain laser pointer?

I'm breaking out a bunch of different red laser diodes and funky batteries for this project, and may even have to resort to supercapacitors to maximize the output, even if it's just for short bursts.
I'm already pretty deep into filming this vid, so stay tuned! The project is pretty absurd, but it's still a great way to showcase cutting edge tech, as well as some unusual laser experiments.

That's a nice challenge.. I watched a documentary series once entitled "Men in Black" - must've been based on leaked government documents because it detailed aliens living among us, and we all know that's hush hush.. Anyhow, in this documentary, a trainee investigator was given a personal protection weapon based on laser technology, wasn't much bigger than a keychain laser pointer, but it's output looked to be in the petawatts with a pulse duration in the 10s of milliseconds based on the damage the beam caused. But seriously, my dream is a hand-held laser device with a class II visible pointer and a class IV main diode, delivering a short (10-100mS) high intensity (10-100W) pulse of IR or BD-blue when the trigger is squeezed. The fly - yes, I meant to say this is for nuking flies across the room - on which the visible spot was trained, then turns into a "walk' as its wings are vaporized.. Man, I hate flies, and I love lasers... Can you offer any advice on making this work.. Btw, great channel, love your projects..
