I need moar power
🕑 Added 2020-06-06 20:15:41 +0000 UTCIt's time I take things to the next level. I keep blowing microwave transformers because they just aren't made for the crazy conditions I put them through. At this point I need a "pole pig" distribution transformer. This "little" one would cost as much as all of your patronage in a month, but I'm confident you'd see it as a good use of your donations when I power my future creations with it.
That being said, does anybody know of a cheaper way I could score a pole pig? There are no electrical scrap yards nearby, and this kind of thing doesn't show up on craigslist.

The pole pig would be a worthwhile investment, even if it is a month's patronage. They're hard to kill, and conservatively rated.

Or get just buy toroidal cores (biggest one rated for 60 kVA). You can even stack and epoxy them for a higher power. Use the right wire gauge for primary and secondary. Use high quality insulation tapes (3M stuff is great) to isolate primary and secondary. After dunk in a PVC pipe filled with transformer oil. You can also pull a Kreosan move and use cooking oil lol. That way you pay much less.
