Leaders Eat Last. I thought it would be a good idea for a work book club and it is trash. Please review this book!

Carin

I have a good book for you: Trump‘s version of the Bible, which is to be distributed in schools (Oklahoma apparently). I just learned, disturbingly, that in the back there is an incomplete version of the Constitution and Bill of Rights - excluding amendments 11 and on. So Trumps version has slavery and no due process of law…

Vic

As a Christmas present, I would love a bonus episode wrap up of your favorite books/ the best books you've ever read and why.

Corey Zinn

I've never read Cal Newport, but he appeared on this Creative Live workshop and I really liked some of his concepts and suggestions. I can't thank him enough for recommending the Facebook News Feed Eradicator browser extension. I've saved so much time with that thing—professionally managing social media accounts without it is just playing with fire lol. I really bought into some of his ideas like eliminating distractions like notifications and training focus. I've tried to integrate his practice of not looking at your phone while waiting in line or that sort of thing. The theory being that you can learn to focus longer over time by avoiding stimulus cravings, which equips you to stay locked into boring tasks that require extended attention. But now that you mention it..... Is any of that data-driven? lmao!

Curious what y'all think about Cal Newport's Deep Work or other productivity books. Maybe not "killer" books, but more along the lines of Atomic Habits. Honestly, there are so many business-y books that pop up like mushrooms

Any thoughts about Careless People? Especially the parts about Sheryl Sandberg v much leaning OUT of feminism and social norms?

Hex DeWitt

Will you cover "Bad Therapy?"

Mark

I just like the chemistry! No question just kudos =)

I'd love to hear an episode on Yanis Varoufakis and his book "Technofeudalism: What Killed Capitalism"

Book Recommendation; This Is Your Mind On Plants

The People require one of you to read Abundance and then vomit it back up like we’re baby birds plz

Andrew Spiegelman

7 Habits of Highly Effective People? Or is that an actually good book? Also, Mike's bonus episodes feel like his You're Wrong About episodes. I love those

Valerie Crosby

How about the book Tiny Experiments: How to Live Freely in a Goal-Obsessed World?

Would y’all consider releasing some kind of community resource where you list the think tanks and any (non-paywall) databases or what have you that you use to substantiate claims/evidence? I’m envisioning a list of these sites, underneath which you include the episodes in which that thing was utilized/consulted. I know that you list your sources (which is awesome), and I imagine that this could help other folks develop that critical thinking/info literacy skill by removing another layer of friction from the equation.

Hello! Would you boys consider reviewing a book with a purpose much like this show? I recently finished Debunk It! By John Grant and it is explicitly in like with the mission here. Feels like a brain child of YWA and IBCK

Oh also the exploitation/sensationalism of trauma, especially the trauma of people in the global south. It’s so interesting to pick that book apart. Did you ever wanna learn how to turn the oppression of women into the oppression of women for the good of capitalism? Then this book is for you!! Sorry just very interested in this topic and think others should know about this train wreck of a book that gets passed around high schools and universities.

Jessica Domladovac

Hey I know this isn’t really a question (sorry) and will probably get lost in the comments, but y’all should consider “Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide” by Nicolas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn. Even if you never do an episode about it. It’s a surprisingly beloved book that is somewhat covert about the true themes. It’s interesting because it portrays itself as so much kinder on the surface than it really is. Thought it might be a nice dip of the toes into white paternalism/savourism that underlies a lot of how the American people view American based NGOs and missionaries and aid services. Not to mention the erasure of colonialism and the erasure of development/infrastructure loan schemes from the global north. Thought it might be interesting even if no episode was made on it, but would also love to hear others’ thoughts on it. Thanks (:

Have you guys seen this? I’m pretty pot-neutral but this article is screaming for the IBCK exegesis! You could have a drinking game called “citation needed.” https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2025/01/marijuana-legalization-drawbacks/681519/?gift=Mm7qhyi_ZjhdLKDOaIK1GC01PvS6JFMpohbwrae9XLo&utm_source=copy-link&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=share

I just listened to the interview of Curtis Yarvin on NYT the daily. It had the worst takes I've ever heard, I'd love to hear Michael's and Peter's reactions

My daughter, who wishes to remain anonymous, would like to know what your favorite dinosaurs are. (For context, we listen to podcasts on family road trips and she really likes this one. She's eleven.)

1. What is the most-suggested book you get that you haven't done yet? 2. Have you considered doing any fiction books for the podcast? 3. Would you do a book/bonus episode on the Dan Ariely stuff? It seems a little different from the usual beat because it's not just that the book is bad, the research behind the book is significantly fraudulent. 4. Peter, any thoughts on the Gamestop Short movie? 5. Are there any books you'd like to do but don't feel qualified to cover?
