The Death Knight sitting in the driver's seat quickly assessed the faces of the mages who had come out to greet them.
'Why are the Lava Clan Tower, Snow Flake Tower, Water Horse Mountain Range Tower, and Paragranum Guild fellows here? Even the Obsidian Tower...'
Even at a rough glance, the number of participating towers wasn't just one or two.
It seemed Erindarbell had shared the news she heard with various towers.
The skull principal, seemingly realizing this too, spoke with an annoyed voice.
"If they heard about the small world, why not keep it to themselves instead of spreading it across the empire?"
Even from a practical perspective, the skull principal's point was correct.
If he had heard about a mage's extraordinary talent he wanted, he would have immediately controlled rumors.
What good could come from increasing competitors?
Yet this foolish great mage had shared the news with various towers.
-Since Lady Erindarbell is a responsible great mage, she must have thought other tower mages should know too...-
"Are you saying I'm an irresponsible great mage?"
-...-
"..."
The subordinates and disciple fell silent at the skull principal's nitpicking words, full of spite.
The skull principal, perhaps realizing getting annoyed wouldn't change anything, sighed.
"Making things troublesome from all directions..."
"What should we do now?"
At his disciple's question, the skull principal nodded as if it was well asked.
"From now on when going outside, use disguises and hide your identity. When meeting mages, first check if they belong to a tower, workshop, or guild. If it's above a certain scale, don't even sit together."
"...I meant besides that distant future."
"This isn't about the distant future? They came to observe, so we must let them observe."
"The small world I mastered is Basilios, and this isn't something I can show just because I want to show others."
To summon this crown inherited from the doppelganger from parallel realms required nobility and dedication for others.
He couldn't easily demonstrate it for mages who came from towers.
"It doesn't matter."
"?"
"Even without the small world, showing just the other things will be enough anyway."
The knights nodded at the skull principal's words.
Just talking about normally learned magic and contract lists would make the mages faint.
"..."
While Yi-Han was feeling uneasy, the skull principal read the last part of the letter he hadn't paid attention to earlier.
[...Yukbeltire is trying to sue Your Excellency in imperial court for forcibly taking her research appointmentโฆ]
"Do you know what this means?"
"I promised to help Senior Yukbeltire with her research during break."
"Ah. I see."
The skull principal snickered and burned the letter.
"...Um, she said she would sue in court, will that be alright?"
"Tell her to try her best. She still has far to go."
The benevolent skull principal intended to give a lesson to the foolish student.
If you want to keep a mage to do research with, you must hold onto them firmly.
If you act carelessly just trusting promises, you get robbed like this.
"Tsk tsk. To think she didn't learn even after seeing what her professor does."
The skull principal felt regret at her failure to grasp this obvious principle despite being Professor Verduus's disciple.
Some mages could never be bound by imperial law.
When dealing with such mages, one must seize them directly with force!
*
Though Yi-Han worried a bit because he couldn't show the small world, the skull principal and knights were right.
The mages from various towers were sufficiently satisfied even without seeing the small world.
"For advanced lightning element magic, <Wardanaz's Lightning Transformation>..."
"Heouk!"
"You mean celestial magic? I did contract with a star but..."
"Heoeoeuk!"
"Um..."
"Heoeoeoeoeuk!"
"...I haven't said anything yet."
"Ah. Sorry."
The mages who had gotten used to being surprised became embarrassed after trying to be surprised in advance.
Having been surprised so many times, they unconsciously reacted with amazement before anything was even said.
"What were you going to say?"
"Ah. It's nothing much, but I was wondering how many more magics I need to show."
"Oh my! We failed to be considerate of the young talent. Let's stop here."
The mages spoke with apologetic smiles.
Of course, Yi-Han hadn't said it intending to stop. It was just a question.
He hadn't even brought up the skull principal's debt yet.
"I can do more though."
"No, no! There's no need."
"That's right. Though Einroguard works mages harshly, we at the Snow Flake Tower don't treat them that way."
"Anyway, Einroguard is a harsh and evil place, isn't it?"
"?"
Yi-Han sensed something strange in the mages' conversation.
What was it?
"Um... it's tough but harsh and evil... well, that's true but..."
"Right! Staying there too long twists people. If I remember correctly, Professor Verduus is there too, isn't he?"
"That's right! Professor Verduus is there. Haven't you thought you might become a mage like Professor Verduus if you stay there too long?"
"..."
Yi-Han couldn't believe it.
So now...
Were they having this conversation to invite him to their towers?
'No. Would imperial mages really do something so transparent?'
"Are you perhaps trying to give me a negative impression of Einroguard right now?"
"Wh-what?"
"No? We were just discussing obvious facts about Einroguard."
"Did you know that statistically, mages who graduate from Einroguard are more likely to become magic criminals?"
"Stop being so vulgar."
The skull principal cut off the conversation by suddenly sticking his face in.
The mages were startled as if they had met an evil lich in the deepest part of a dungeon.
"If you're mages, you should properly invite with magic. Show what tower magic is like, what arcane knowledge you have..."
The tower mages responded intensely to the wise great mage's advice.
"Is that why you imprisoned Professor Kim at Einroguard?"
"Only certain mages have the right to talk about propriety."
"Why don't you release Professor Verduus first?"
"...I didn't imprison Professor Garcia! She chose it herself!"
Though the skull principal couldn't deny the others, he strongly denied the first point.
That was truly malicious slander.
"Ha. If you say so."
"I suppose all Einroguard students are happily doing only magic of their own will too?"
"I think they lock them in the punishment room and threaten them."
"..."
The skull principal sensed he wouldn't even break even if he kept talking with these resentful mages.
This was karma already destined from when he deceived them with Professor Garcia.
"...Still, won't you grant my request for my disciple's sake?"
"Of course. We'll even erase the debt."
"Would you like to take the relics you demanded last time now?"
"Haha. Not necessary."
The skull principal gently poked his disciple's back.
It meant to quietly slip away now that they had gotten what they wanted.
Yi-Han, who had gotten used to dealing with madly gleaming mages, nodded and silently backed away.
The mages didn't even notice the disciple had disappeared while talking with the skull principal, so perfect was his stealth.
-Good work.-
The knights who had been watching anxiously also sighed in relief.
-We were worried the mages might go mad and try kidnapping.-
"No matter what, they're all people belonging to towers, would they go that far?"
-Actually, during Professor Kim's time, they attacked and burned down Master's villa...-
"...What did you say earlier about how to behave in the future?"
Yi-Han felt the need to properly remember the advice he had casually passed over earlier.
When going outside, use disguises, hide identity, when meeting mages check if they belong to a tower or...
-But don't worry too much.-
"Right? After all, mages belonging to official imperial towers wouldn't do anything too extreme..."
-Ah. That's not what I meant. Since Master Yi-Han is an outstanding combat mage, you could handle it well even if tower mages tried kidnapping.-
"...Wow... I'm truly delighted."
The knights all beamed at their successor's response.
It seemed to have comforted him a bit.
While escaping through the tower corridor with the knights, an unfamiliar mage appeared ahead.
A mage with silver hair and blue eyes. Yi-Han whispered to the Death Knights.
"Is that Lady Erindarbell?"
-Yes. She resembles your friend, doesn't she?-
The knights naturally thought Yi-Han had recognized the other's identity by her features.
"Ah. Yes. They definitely look alike."
-Pardon? Then how did you recognize her?-
"The structure of her staff magic is similar to Senior Yukbeltire's..."
-...You'd better not say that in front of the tower mages.-
"???"
Yi-Han was puzzled by the knights' reaction.
Had there been some mistake in his deduction just now?
"Welcome, Young Wardanaz. I welcome your visit."
"Hello, Lady Erindarbell."
The two mages greeted each other politely.
The great mage's welcome had something strict and formal about it.
But Yi-Han was slightly relieved just by the fact that she didn't badmouth Einroguard or talk about how great it would be to come to their tower after graduation.
'She might be a good person.'
His average expectations had dropped considerably due to the mages he had met recently.
"Thank you for the magic demonstration shown during today's visit. You surely left a deep impression on the other mages."
"Not at all. I'm only embarrassed by my inadequate magic."
-Inadequate?-
Though the Death Knights muttered in disbelief, Yi-Han signaled them to shut up.
"More importantly, I heard Senior Yukbeltire sent a letter, I'm sorry. Because of the principal..."
"You mean Yukbeltire's research?"
"Yes."
"That's an insignificant research, so you don't need to help. Please proceed with your own research, Young Wardanaz."
"...You really are Senior Yukbeltire's mother!"
"?"
"Ah. I'm sorry. It's nothing."
Yi-Han quickly recovered after realizing his rudeness.
"It doesn't seem like such an insignificant research though. If artificial realms could be created even locally..."
"When researching magic, one must consider both possibility and utility upon success. In Einroguard terms, it would be a failing grade. Moreover, she's even causing trouble for her friend."
"Friend? Who..."
-Dark magic school! She means the dark magic school!-
One of the knights desperately whispered. Yi-Han finally came to his senses.
"Ah! You mean Senior Direth! Since she has so many other friends, I was confused about who you meant for a moment."
"???"
Erindarbell looked at the Wardanaz family mage as if he were strange.
Could there be two Yukbeltires at Einroguard?
