'Perhaps this is my fault.'
Seeing the wretched state of the palace, Sebius reflected deeply.
To have sent only the junior capable of half-destroying the palace to infiltrate first.
He should have sent at least one or two other seniors disguised as servants along with him.
Then they might have stopped the incident before it happened...!
"Sebius! Snap out of it!"
"I'm listening."
"There's only one thing we need to do now!"
"Right. Quickly find the junior and..."
"Let's erase any evidence that we were involved and then run away!"
"..."
Even in this situation, the Change Location Club students didn't lose their Einroguard spirit.
If there's no evidence, they're not guilty, right?
If they just erased the evidence related to the theater club and ran away...!
Sebius sighed deeply and said.
"That's useless. Think about it. How many Einroguard students are out in Granden City right now?"
"W-we could say the theater club guys did it."
"The theater club guys wouldn't keep the secret. It's too late now. Let's just find the junior."
"Ugh...! I can't go to the punishment room this month! I need to graduate!"
Sebius's friends whined as they followed him.
Unlike his friends, Sebius, who usually prepared for graduation in advance, coolly checked the surroundings.
'What's this? Mages from elsewhere?'
Upon checking, he saw a group of mages near the bridge. Judging by the composition of the artifacts and staffs they were holding, they seemed to be from the illusion magic school.
'Then they might be mages participating in this play.'
Thinking this was fortunate, Sebius cautiously approached.
The half-destroyed palace must have been shocking to the mages too, as they were muttering with serious expressions.
-So you're saying that illusion was prepared by Setlad of the Anog family and Alcicle of the Pengerin family?-
-It seems so.-
-Hmm. To think they both disappeared... The socialites and critics who watched the play really wanted to meet the mages who prepared this illusion magic...-
"Excuse me, may I ask a question?"
Sebius politely addressed a mage with his robe pulled low.
"Y-yes?"
Startled by the sudden unexpected question, Baldoorn raised her head.
She still felt her fingertips trembling from the battle of transcendents.
"What on earth happened here?"
"Haven't... haven't you heard? Evil god worshippers summoned a monster here."
"!?!"
The students were shocked.
One of them muttered quietly.
"S-surely, no matter what, the junior wouldn't have done such a thing... right..."
Sebius calmly asked.
"Has the identity of those evil god worshippers been confirmed?"
"Ah. Yes. I heard they all died."
A sigh of relief burst out from behind.
So it really wasn't the junior's doing!!
Misunderstanding the meaning of that sigh, Baldoorn nodded.
"I'm also glad the evil ones couldn't escape."
"That's not why we're relie... It's nothing. Then did the Death Knights handle the monster?"
"The Death Knights, Mr. Alcicle of the Pengerin family, and Mr. Setlad of the Anog family handled it."
"...Uh, Setlad of the Anog family?"
As the students hesitated, Baldoorn kindly explained.
He was a very powerful battle mage, and he probably came to the palace with Alcicle in preparation for something like this.
He defeated the summoned Defiler together with a powerful spirit king, and it was truly a mythical sight...
"Wow. There was such a mage?"
"The empire really has many eccentric people."
The students were intrigued by Baldoorn's explanation.
The empire was vast, and it wasn't that rare for a mage who had trained for over a hundred years in an unnamed, unknown land to suddenly appear.
"Right? Oh. They say this person was also the righteous thief of Granden City recently."
"..."
"..."
The students' faces simultaneously turned pale.
*
"Ugh! Why do we have to run away when we did something heroic!"
"Is that even a question?"
Yi-Han looked at Alcicle as if he were ridiculous.
After intense magic casting followed by running, Alcicle was drenched in sweat and breathing heavily.
"Wait. Let's rest for a moment!"
Alcicle floundered like a struggling penguin, showing his will not to move. In the end, Yi-Han had no choice but to give in.
"Huff, huff... I think we could have stayed a bit longer."
"Will you take responsibility if the knights change their minds and come to arrest me?"
"...That's true, but..."
The reason Yi-Han hurriedly escaped from the palace was simple.
The Death Knights might change their minds and send Yi-Han to the punishment room.
Though the knights pretended not to know at the scene, they couldn't have failed to recognize him when even Ferkuntra was summoned.
"...But they let it slide, right? I've been saying this since before, the Death Knights secretly respect you."
"Ha. Mr. Alcicle. That's the trap."
Yi-Han looked at Alcicle with eyes that seemed to say 'This is why non-Einroguard people...' Alcicle felt slightly upset.
'No. Wait. Come to think of it, I could have just stayed put, right?'
Even if the Death Knights changed their minds and caught Yi-Han to take him to the punishment room, it wouldn't have mattered to Alcicle.
"No matter how kindly the principal's minions treat you, you must never trust them. The moment you completely let your guard down. That's the moment the enemy is waiting for."
"You... have a point."
Knowing the skull principal's personality, Alcicle couldn't completely deny it.
From Alcicle's perspective, the Death Knights seemed to already respect Yi-Han almost as a successor, but that too could be a trap.
"Young Master. Over here!"
Arien and Amur waved their arms through the open carriage door.
They had agreed to help with the secret escape after defeating the enemy. The two hurriedly ran inside.
"What on earth did you do?! Rumors are rampant from the eastern gate to the western canal!"
Arien shouted with a voice full of bewilderment. Yi-Han looked at Alcicle. Alcicle looked at Yi-Han.
"...Ah. You're talking to me."
'Who else would it be if not you?'
Alcicle was dumbfounded. Yi-Han explained sheepishly.
"Unexpected things happened, so it couldn't be helped."
"Of course it was unexpected..."
If he had planned what happened yesterday, Arien would have really collapsed.
Amur, who had been listening beside them, opened his mouth.
"Still, it's good that the students escaped."
"That's... that's true, but..."
Arien wondered if it was okay to conclude this incident with 'Well, at least the students escaped, haha' after fighting evil god worshippers at the risk of their lives.
"If it was this dangerous, I would never have taken you there! If something had happened, what would the Wardanaz family have thought of me?"
"I think they would have considered you a kind person who granted my request..."
"Don't joke around!"
'I'm not joking.'
After that, Yi-Han had to listen to Arien's lecture for about 30 minutes.
Students should retreat when dangerous situations arise, they should call other mages...
While listening to that lecture, Yi-Han thought inwardly.
'Hmm. If Mr. Arien is like this, I should avoid Professor Garcia for a while.'
If Arien reacted like this, Professor Garcia's reaction could be several times more fierce.
Yi-Han resolved to avoid the <Inn of Ten Thousand Schemes> for a while. Fortunately, the Change Location Club requests were practically all wrapped up.
"Phew. I shouldn't give such a long sermon to people who have been through such a fierce battle. I'm sorry. So what do you two plan to do now?"
"I was thinking of finding my scattered friends and then looking for Mr. Alcicle's patrons."
"You...!"
Alcicle was moved.
Even after all that commotion, he hadn't forgotten his promise.
"...No, Mr. Alcicle. You're not crying, are you?"
"Penguin mixed-bloods' eyes naturally sparkle brightly!"
Alcicle flared up angrily. Seeing the momentum as if he might peck with his beak if asked further, Yi-Han let it go for now.
"Do you have enough time?"
"Ah. Yes. I have plenty of time for being out since I joined so many clubs."
Though his friends would have to return individually, Yi-Han still had ample time left.
He would have enough time to help his friends who had escaped to various parts of the city and then handle Alcicle's business.
"We need to find a place to stay first."
"Then I'll look for lodgings."
"Ah, no. That's a bit..."
Yi-Han expressed reluctance at Arien's suggestion.
It was already grateful for the help so far, but to provide lodgings for Yi-Han and his friends too. That was too shameless.
"No. I think it's better to accept."
However, Alcicle seriously recommended.
"Why?"
"The Death Knights might go around checking the inns in the city."
"...!"
Come to think of it, they might be tracked to find the escaped theater club students from their designated location.
After pondering, Yi-Han counter-proposed.
"Do you perhaps have any spare warehouses in the trading company?"
"There are many warehouses, but you don't need to stay in such places..."
"No. And considering the tracking, a warehouse might be better."
Arien thought inwardly.
Einroguard students were truly eccentrics!
"Alright. Then let's do that."
Yi-Han took out <Whispers of Einroguard> and prepared to contact his same-year friends.
There was also a communication network that friends like Adenart or Anglago belonged to, not just the <Sentinels of Einroguard> club.
-Everyone. Gather at the Kaako Trading Company warehouse next to the Dwarf Bridge near the north gate. I got permission to use it.-
-What are you suddenly talking about?-
Jijel, who didn't understand, asked back when the message suddenly came to the paper bundle.
Not being in the theater club, she hadn't grasped the situation fully.
Anglago hurriedly replied.
-Okay! I'll go there!-
-I'm asking what you're talking about.-
-Well, that's... Wait. What if you snitch?-
-...Alpha, have you lost your mind?-
-I-I'm not Alpha??-
'The handwriting is exactly the same...'
Dumbfounded by Anglago denying himself, Yi-Han explained instead.
-The theater club escaped taking advantage of the current chaos. They're planning to wander around until the time limit and then return.-
-What? I should have joined the theater club. How did they escape from that encirclement? Did they set a fire or something?-
-Uh...-
-Well...-
-That's...-
-...What is it?-
-It's a long story, so later.-
-You're not just saying that because you don't want to talk now, right?-
-No. It's really long.-
-Ha!-
Jijel smiled coldly.
If it wasn't a long story, she would take severe revenge on these liars.
-Wardanaz.There are several warehouses near the Dwarf Bridge at the north gate but I don't know which one to go to is there any way to find out??-
-...I'll come out to meet you. Please wait a moment.-
Yi-Han wrote that and then asked Arien. He had to bring friends without paper bundles separately.
"Is it alright if we stop by a few places before arriving at the warehouse?"
"Of course. Where are you thinking of going?"
"First, let's go to the alchemy workshop run by Lady Yoanen of the Maykin family, then to the administrative residence where Mr. Daihal of the Dargard family is. My friends will be waiting there."
Alcicle, who was listening beside them, admired this thoroughness.
"Wow. You even set locations in that chaos?"
"Huh? No, I didn't."
"Then?"
"I just predicted."
Eventually, when the carriage stopped at the destination, hidden friends popped out one by one exactly. Yi-Han opened the door and welcomed them as if nothing was unusual.
Seeing this, Alcicle shuddered.
'If... if this guy becomes a professor, the students won't even be able to escape...!'
