🕑 Added 2024-10-30 15:32:26 +0000 UTCChapter 49: Little Six's Dock Game
Just after 1 PM, Kong Zhenghui's car stopped in front of the Su family compound.
In the car, Su Tianyu, with a grave expression, instructed Kong Zhenghui: "You have a wide network. Feel out the situation with the dock gang leaders. Once you've got the information, we'll plan our next move."
Kong Zhenghui was a very smart person. He had probably already guessed Su Tianyu's thoughts and asked in return: "If we analyze it as we did before, Boss Yu is very conflicted right now, and is very likely to lean towards the dock gang's side, right?"
Su Tianyu looked at him without responding.
"If we act privately and Boss Yu doesn't cover for us, what then?" Kong Zhenghui asked.
"Let me ask you one thing: we've already started the business and seen the profits. If you were kicked out now, would you be content?" Su Tianyu asked in return.
"Of course not!" Kong Zhenghui replied frankly. "But it doesn't matter if I'm not content. The initiative is in Boss Yu's hands. If he says he doesn't want to play with you anymore, what can you do?"
Su Tianyu looked at the shrewd Kong Zhenghui and blinked as he replied: "You find out first, then we'll decide what to do next. Don't think too much for now."
Hearing this non-answer, Kong Zhenghui pondered for a while before responding: "Alright, I'll make some contacts now."
"Mm, I'm going home for a bit. Wait for me," Su Tianyu opened the car door.
After watching Dog Six leave, Kong Zhenghui thought for nearly a full minute before taking out his phone.
......
In the Su family's main hall, Su Zhengcai stood with his hands behind his back, looking at Dog Six who had just walked in, and asked with furrowed brows: "Little Hao has been detained for two or three days now. Can Yu Mingyuan settle this matter or not?"
"Sit down first, Second Uncle."
"Sit my ass. Hao's mother cries every day, it's giving me boils on my butt," Su Zhengcai cursed with extremely poor manners. "Call Yu Mingyuan, I'll talk to him."
"Second Uncle, listen to me first, okay?"
"...!" Su Zhengcai looked at Little Six and sat down in a chair: "What do you mean?"
"The current situation is like this..." Su Tianyu spoke in a low voice, explaining the course of events, his analysis, and what he had said when meeting Yu Mingyuan yesterday, holding nothing back from his Second Uncle.
After listening, Su Zhengcai frowned deeply: "Will Yu Mingyuan end up choosing our three families?"
"No matter who he chooses, we need to get our people and goods back first," Su Tianyu said softly. "I'll handle this."
"The dock gang isn't Changqing Company. Those people are especially tight-knit, they even live together. How will you handle it?" Su Zhengcai thought for a moment, then immediately waved his hand. "Stop talking nonsense. Don't end up not getting the people and goods back and getting yourself in trouble too."
"Second Uncle, there are definitely risks, I won't argue with that. But which bowl of rice we eat now can always be smooth sailing?" Su Tianyu looked up at his uncle and asked directly: "You've watched me grow up since I was little. Do you think I would do something without any assurance?"
Su Zhengcai fell silent: "If the people and goods are at the docks, it's too difficult for you to accomplish this."
"That's why I came to find you," Su Tianyu leaned close to his uncle's ear and said: "If Yu Mingyuan negotiates well with them tonight, then we'll do this..."
Su Zhengcai listened to Dog Six's words with a complex expression.
After Su Tianyu finished speaking, he stared at his uncle and asked: "Do you think it will work?"
Su Zhengcai blinked: "The problem is, what can I use to convince them? They don't have shares in the sea business, why would they help us?"
"Based on your friendship!" Su Tianyu replied.
"That's not enough," Su Zhengcai waved his hand. "When it comes to matters involving interests, friendship is friendship, business is business."
Su Tianyu thought for a moment, then continued to offer suggestions: "Then you can tell him this..."
......
Half an hour later, Su Tianyu left home and got back into Kong Zhenghui's car.
"Did you ask around?" Su Tianyu asked.
"I did."
"Good, call Bai Hongbo and have him bring a few brave ones over. We'll meet at the warehouse yard," Su Tianyu replied.
"Alright!" Kong Zhenghui didn't ask further, driving while dialing Bai Hongbo's number.
Around 4 PM in the evening.
Su Tianyu, Kong Zhenghui, Su Tianbei, Bai Hongbo, plus eight core members from various families gathered in the warehouse yard, waiting for news from Kong Zhenghui's friend.
In the main hall, Bai Hongbo looked at Su Tianyu somewhat timidly and asked: "Brother, is this reliable? Let me tell you, the docks are by the sea. If we don't handle this properly, we might end up being buried at sea, with no bodies to be found."
Su Tianyu looked at him sideways and replied concisely: "If you're afraid, you don't have to participate."
"...Tianyu, if you put it that way, I can only wish you all safety," Bai Hongbo had lost all face at this point and stopped pretending: "I'll just stay here and wait for news."
Kong Zhenghui squinted at Bai Hongbo and said very bluntly: "The logic is this: if you don't protect the plate this time, and if the sea business can continue, it will have nothing to do with the Bai family."
Bai Hongbo blinked: "...Is it necessary to turn hostile so quickly?"
Everyone ignored him and just quietly waited for news.
......
In a teahouse next to the Dragon City Police Bureau.
Su Zhengcai sat by the window and asked softly: "Old Wang, for the sake of our friendship, you must help me with this matter no matter what."
"Hehe," Wang Daolin held his teacup and smiled. "Su Second Cannon, you're not being very principled!"
"How so?"
"When you expanded your sea business and made money, you didn't look for me. Now that you've run into trouble, you suddenly remember we're war comrades. Isn't that a bit unreasonable?" Wang Daolin took a sip of tea. "The business belongs to the Yu family. If there's trouble, they should handle it. Why should I clean up the mess? That doesn't make sense."
Su Zhengcai pondered for a while: "Old Wang, I'm just asking you to back us up. I absolutely won't put you in a difficult position between both sides. And after this matter is over, if you ever need the Su family to do anything at the Police Bureau, I, Su Zhengcai, will absolutely not say a single word of refusal. If you need money, we'll give money. If you need to work under-the-table connections, we'll work under-table connections. From now on, we'll be in the same boat, completely tied together. How does that sound?"
Wang Daolin played with his teacup in his right hand, not immediately replying.
Su Zhengcai lit a cigarette and continued softly: "Moreover, if the sea business doesn't collapse..."
Wang Daolin listened quietly, also thinking in his mind.
......
In the evening, just after 6 PM, Yu Mingyuan left the company and met with Tang Baiqing first. The two chatted briefly, then went to a high-end restaurant in Zha'nan District.
At the same time.
Kong Zhenghui received a call from his friend: "Hello, speak!"
"I couldn't find out exactly where," the friend replied softly. "But if it really was the dock gang that picked up the goods at sea, it must have been the team leaders who did it. But Zha'nan's dock gang has four team leaders, you understand my meaning?"
Kong Zhenghui's mind worked very quickly. He almost instantly thought that Xu Hu had been the one constantly negotiating with Yu Mingyuan, so he immediately asked: "Who are Xu Hu's team leaders?"
"Guo Lin and Feng Hai."
After talking for five minutes, the call ended. Kong Zhenghui turned his head to look at Su Tianyu: "I found out. Are you really going to do this?"
