Gradually, Kapros's heart began to race, and all the worries from yesterday and today vanished, replaced by a pleasant tension and excitement that filled him. If ordinary 6th circle magic was like this, what could Superior's 6th circle magic be like, which Ilumine had said was on a completely different level from other magic? He was so curious that his whole body was itching with anticipation.
"Whew..."
But for now, the most important thing was that he had succeeded with this magic. Kapros smiled happily, deactivated Aerial Servant, and headed towards the house where Kran and Un-o would be. The promised week had already shrunk, approaching tomorrow. Now, if he just visited Ilumine once more, they would be able to leave this village.
Finally, the promised week had passed.
Ilumine, whom they met again in the cave, greeted them sitting in her usual neat posture.
"Hello."
Although Kapros had new questions he wanted to ask when they met this time, he decided to take care of business first and greeted her. Ilumine nodded with a smile.
"Yes. You've finally come, both of you. ...But why are you here again?"
"..."
The one Ilumine looked at quizzically was Un-o, standing behind them.
In fact, Un-o's accompaniment was unexpected for Kapros as well. He had brought him along since there was no reason to refuse when Un-o insisted on coming... Did he just want to have a look around?
As Un-o silently averted his gaze, Ilumine, perhaps not really wanting an answer, said, "Well, if you don't want to answer, that's fine," and turned her head back towards them.
"Judging by your state... it seems you've managed to learn everything I taught you, more or less."
"Yes."
"Good, then you should show me proof."
Kapros had been waiting for those words. Without hesitation, he stepped forward and, feeling the gazes on him, prepared the magic he had practiced countless times. The range was set to a spot close to Ilumine's front.
"Aerial Servant."
A moment later, with a dizzying sensation, his vision split into two.
'Good...!'
After confirming that it had worked as intended, Kapros quietly whispered his desire.
"Wrap around the hair once."
With a whoosh, Aerial Servant moved and flew off.
"Wind in a cave...?"
Just as Un-o, standing a bit away, muttered in confusion, Aerial Servant rushed towards Ilumine and gently circled around her once. By the time Ilumine's eyes widened slightly, the wind that had wrapped around her long hair and pulled it upwards had already disappeared according to Kapros's will. Her long hair fluttered belatedly and fell to the ground.
After a moment, a smile appeared on Ilumine's face as she erased her surprised expression. It was the first time Kapros had seen her look genuinely pleased.
"You really did it. Yes. That level is enough to say you're qualified. Because I taught you, and you're his descendant."
Ding!
It was the long-awaited notification sound.
- All conditions have been met!
- From now on, you can freely come and go to the Elf Village without any conditions.
- Reward experience points will be given.
- Your level has increased.
Amidst the various noisy notifications ringing out simultaneously, what froze Kapros was two words that didn't change no matter how many times he looked at it: the title 'Ilumine's Disciple'.
'What, disciple?'
If Ilumine had taught him, one could say she had taught him, but most of the time had been spent enduring humiliation at her questions of whether he couldn't even do this, and he had learned Aerial Servant on his own. Could this really be called a true master-disciple relationship?
Regardless of Kapros's disbelief, Ilumine called them closer with a gentle expression and a gesture of her hand.
"Well then, now it's time to give you this, right?"
What she handed over with a willing air was the very book she had previously referred to as Lord Superior's trace. The still worn-out book looked so fragile that it might crumble if gripped tightly. As Kapros carefully received it, another notification sound was heard.
Ding!
- You have obtained Lord Superior's spellbook.
"A barrier on the spellbook...?"
As Kapros muttered in surprise, Ilumine perked up her ears and raised her head.
"Yes, that book has magic cast on it. I said you'd need to master 6th circle to open it, so that's probably it."
"The 6th circle, you say?"
Did that mean the contents were at least 7th circle magic? Kapros felt a faint thrill as he gripped the book tightly.
"And this too. It was finally finished yesterday. Look. These are your original Lord Pieces."
"Ah..."
What appeared in Ilumine's hand, emitting radiance, was an oval red gem brooch and a golden pendant with a slender golden diamond-shaped gem...?
Wait. What had changed?
As Kapros just blinked at the appearance that seemed no different from before, Kran also voiced his disbelief from the side.
"It doesn't seem... to have changed at all?"
"How can you say it hasn't changed!"
Ilumine flared up at Kran's hesitant words. Intimidated by her force, Kran stepped back. Ilumine threw each of their gems to them.
"Oops."
"Look closely! Do you know how much effort I put into removing the age-old grime without damaging the original form and then drawing out the power again?"
What could it mean to remove the grime without damaging the original form...
'...Huh?'
Thinking this, as Kapros rubbed the gem part of the brooch with his thumb, he was suddenly startled by an unfamiliar sensation and brought it close to his eyes.
"This is..."
Because the cave was dim, he hadn't noticed at first glance, but what he felt when he rubbed it wasn't the original smooth texture, but a strange feeling of countless delicate and finely carved surfaces. Looking closely, he could clearly see the amazingly intricate interlocking facets of the gem.
'Did Ilumine... do this?'
"Kap! Check the information, check the item information!"
At that moment, Kran shouted loudly from the side.
"Huh?"
Surprised by Kran's appearance, his eyes so wide they looked like they might roll out the back of his head, Kapros also muttered, "Check item information," and a translucent window popped up in front of his eyes.
Ding!
