Surviving as a Mage in a Magic Academy Chapter 913

Yi-Han really left to submit it.
It was too much of a shame to just pass over the result he had barely obtained with the help of an evil magic criminal's power.
Of course, to the magic criminal hamster beside him, that behavior seemed very madness-filled.
-...You're thinking of submitting this when that tyrant is trapped in the workshop??-
"It's not like Master will return to his senses if I don't submit this."
-...-
The hamster trapped in the cage realized there was no point in saying anything more.
'From now on, if new magic criminal bastards boast about their madness, I should bury them upside down...'
New magic criminals who made a name for themselves often boasted about their madness to leave a strong impression on their existing seniors.
But to the hamster, that was just pathetic bluster.
Real madness should emanate softly and deeply like this.
Enough to make the hamster's fur stand on end!
"What's wrong?"
-...Nothing.-
"More importantly, the Yaksha King recommended <Gonadaltes' Decline>, what do you think?"
-What do I think?-
The hamster squeaked in puzzlement.
Even a magic criminal like the hamster had no particular objection to the Yaksha King's power and abilities.
If <Gonadaltes' Decline> was the best method in the current situation, that must surely be correct.
"Don't you have any more advice? Like what to be careful of, what to focus on..."
-Hmm.-
The hamster, who had been pondering while flicking his whiskers, suddenly realized something strange.
Why was he asking him this?
-Why are you asking me that? Do you perhaps think I'm your master?-
Come to think of it, it was ridiculous.
Even if he was going to ask, he should ask the mad doppelganger, not him.
This guy who hadn't helped him once when he became a hamster and was trapped in a cage?
'Though he did give me grapes.'
"Ah. Why are you like this? We need to cooperate to quickly overcome this crisis. Escape is only possible if Master is in his right mind, you can't undo the magic when he's in this tyrant state, right?"
Yi-Han, like the tyrant's disciple he was, sharply grasped the hamster's state and struck his sore spot.
Originally, the hamster's plan was to temporarily expel the mad doppelganger, then escape through the gap when the magic binding him disappeared.
But with the mad doppelganger not only not expelled, but raging even more intensely in a reversed state, there was no way the binding magic would be undone.
What was worse was that if left like this, eventually the Yaksha King would be pushed back and reverse summoned, and the mad doppelganger would take the initiative.
If the mad doppelganger took the initiative, his disciple would at least play the role of commander, but the enslaved hamster could be offered as a sacrifice.
'From now on, if new magic criminal bastards boast about their evil, I should switch their arms and legs...'
To Yi-Han, who had unknowingly raised the standards for magic criminals even higher, the hamster asked.
-You know that well, yet you're wasting time like this? Surely you're not planning to face the tyrant after taking all your remaining exams?-
"I've pretty much taken all the exams if I submit this. I took them in advance."
-...-
'From now on, if new magic criminal bastards boast about their planning, I'll sew their mouths shut.'

While Yi-Han was submitting his assignment, Professor Garcia and Professor Boladi began a serious magic discussion.
"<Gonadaltes' Decline> magic is really unique. I found that in ancient times, they used it offensively."
"That's right. It's a pity."
"Aren't you interested in this magic, Professor?"
Professor Boladi slowly shook his head.
As a professor who had established many experiences and theories as a battle mage, he was rather picky about choosing new magic.
"It's not suitable for combat."
Though dark mages in the Three Kingdoms era had modified this magic for offensive use, it was inefficient in Professor Boladi's view.
Originally, as this magic was started to bring another's decline to oneself, there were limits to using it offensively.
"That's true. Moreover, the conditions are so strict... What do you think about what he said?"
The 'he' referred to here was of course the Yaksha King.
To Yi-Han, he would likely be called 'that guy' or 'that bastard', but to Professor Garcia, the Yaksha King was an otherworldly being worthy of respect.
It was rare to find a being who would put in full effort like this for something unrelated to himself just because of a connection.
"He's probably right."
"Hmm. I see."
Professor Garcia let out a light groan.
The reason the two were pondering was simple.
In fact, the Yaksha King had strongly recommended Yi-Han while suggesting Decline as the solution. It wasn't just a light recommendation.
*
-Hmm. In my view, it would be best for Os's disciple to cast it.-
-If it's this magic, couldn't I or Professor Bagrak learn it sufficiently?-
-If it's just learning the magic, that would be enough. But the essence of this magic doesn't lie in simply learning and casting it.-
The Yaksha King explained as much as he knew about the magic.
Simple pain, wounds, or curses could be transferred sufficiently just by learning and casting the magic.
Those were concepts that even ordinary mages already knew well enough.
But if what needed to be transferred was a great mage's long-cherished wish, it was a different story.
If the mage trying to transfer it didn't understand, or even if they thought they understood but only knew superficially...
-Os won't give it up easily.-
The two professors shuddered as they realized the meaning in the Yaksha King's words.
Hearing this, it was a much trickier task than they had thought.
If Einroguard students heard this, they would angrily say 'What nonsense are you talking about', but originally magic was easiest when it consisted only of theory, numbers, and diagrams.
From the moment you start feeling the soul and spirit and putting in beliefs and thoughts, it becomes a realm that even outstanding mages can't reach without luck.
To deeply understand and cast the beliefs of the skull principal in his youth...
...Was that even possible?
-Can't we just kill him?-
-Hmm. From my view, you are truly destructive and combative, you must be the captain of this territory's guard and play the role of protector. But that won't do.-
-...-
Professor Garcia, who felt embarrassed for unnecessarily speaking up, shut her mouth.
Professor Boladi, who had been listening silently, opened his mouth.
-I'll try to understand the principal. Wake him up.-
-Hmm. Are you perhaps close with Os?-
-Uh... Well... That... We are close but...-
Professor Garcia pondered.
Professor Boladi was quite close with the skull principal, but that was only in comparison to other professors.
Could that be called close?
-Alright. I'll wake him up briefly. Everyone be careful.-
The Yaksha King woke the mad doppelganger who had been restrained with his eyes closed.
The mad doppelganger, awakening from his stopped consciousness, asked indifferently.
"Have you come to declare surrender, King of Yakshas?"
-No. This mage here says he'll try to understand you.-
"Get lost."
After saying that, the mad doppelganger stopped his consciousness again. It was to conserve energy until the Yaksha King's power was released.
-It failed.-
Professor Boladi spoke without changing his expression. Professor Garcia felt more embarrassed herself and quickly comforted him.
-Th-that's because it's the principal in his youth. If it were recently, he would have listened!-
-That makes sense too. Os is strongly bound by honor now. He won't listen well to outsiders. Wouldn't it be better to just leave it to Os's disciple?-
-Um. You don't seem to know, Yaksha King, but Yi-Han is still an inexperienced mage.-
-Hmm. That mage clearly showed ability enough to contract with a guest star last time... Is the reason you're saying this now perhaps because you're overprotecting your disciple by projecting your past self onto him?-
-N-no! What!-
-Hmm. Seeing you get angry, it gives more weight to my guess just now. Anyway, I'll recommend leaving it to Os's disciple once again. Don't tell him about this conversation and naturally guide him. If he finds out, he might feel unnecessarily burdened.-
*
"But maybe I could try to understand somehow?"
Professor Boladi shook his head again.
Professor Garcia wanted to get the necessary information from Yi-Han and then cast Decline herself, but originally the bond between master and disciple was hard for other outsiders to easily imitate.
What was the reason Yi-Han could accept Professor Boladi's teachings when most Einroguard students couldn't?
It was thanks to trust in his master.
The same would be true for that mad doppelganger.
"Ugh..."
When Professor Bagrak kept giving negative answers instead of agreeing, Professor Garcia let out a groan.
After pondering and pondering, Professor Garcia finally asked in a resigned voice.
"Alright. If Yi-Han has to solve it, how should we make him understand? Honestly, it's not easy to follow the principal's doppelganger's way of thinking."
It wasn't easy to sincerely understand the mind of wanting to directly conquer and rule because one doesn't like the world's pain.
If Yi-Han understood immediately, Professor Garcia felt like she would look at Yi-Han with slightly different eyes from the next day.
"I've been thinking about it. The best method still seems to be time magic."
"Time magic... Ah!"
Professor Garcia was puzzled at the sight of Professor Bagrak talking about her specialty, but then belatedly realized.
Time magic wasn't just all about pulling and twisting the current time. Peeking at past time was included in that too.
Few things helped understanding as much as experience and firsthand experience.
Moreover, Professor Garcia happened to have an artifact suitable for the current situation.
"If we use <Kairos's Scepter>, we can directly peek at and experience the past. You and I can accompany Yi-Han and assist him."
"...Professor Garcia too?"
Professor Boladi looked at her with slight worry. Professor Garcia cried out, regretting not practicing magic combat usually.
"I-I'll be fine if I prepare a lot! If I prepare in advance, I can block sufficiently even if a battle breaks out."
Professor Boladi still hesitated.
Professor Garcia was kind-hearted and not ruthless enough to kill even a bug.
Peeking at the existing past was similar to visiting another realm, so one had to fight boldly when it was time to fight...
After pondering, Professor Boladi finally nodded.
It seemed he could entrust Professor Garcia's protection to his disciple.
"Thank you, Professor!"
"I should be thanking you."

-Perfect score, perfect score, Yi-Han! You're really amazing! But there's one thing I'm curious about...-
-Gasp. Is there a part I got wrong?-
-Ah. No, Yi-Han! I'm just curious why you wrote so archaically. It really sounds like the speech of a very old person. It's quite a lightly written example text. Did you perhaps use an old dictionary instead of a recently published one?-
-...-
As he returned to the two professors after receiving a perfect score, Yi-Han kept grumbling.
"How could you translate it like that?"
-...-
The extremely annoyed hamster went deep into the cage and buried himself in the sawdust.
