"Isn't the floor too slippery? Should I help clean it?"
As the seniors kept falling, Yi-Han asked curiously.
Professor Verduus looked at the floor and got irritated.
"Why does this floor keep interfering by being so slippery!"
"Didn't you carelessly discard something after experimenting, Professor?"
At Yi-Han's suspicion, Professor Verduus protested as if it was nonsense.
"The students clean it up!"
"..."
Yi-Han shook his head at Professor Verduus's words, who absolutely wouldn't say 'I didn't do that'.
"Seniors. Let me help..."
"We said it's fine!"
"Wardanaz. Do we look like idiots who can't control a slippery floor to you? Do we perhaps look like Baldurguard students to you?"
As the seniors got angry, Yi-Han felt a bit dumbfounded.
Hadn't they just fallen twice!
If it had been Gainando, his staff would have gone out first, telling him not to talk nonsense.
"Yes... I understand."
"Right, right, right. Ignore that. Try casting mana absorption enchantment."
Professor Verduus urged impatiently, stamping his feet.
He had already wasted 58 seconds because of that trash floor.
"By Beavle's rule, mana, be absorbed."
Scoot scoot-
While Yi-Han and Professor Verduus had their heads close to the workbench, the seniors slowly moved their chairs.
Had that junior really mastered <Beavle's Mana Absorption Enchantment>?
"No matter how much he's that guy, isn't that a bit... impossible?"
"I can't even believe he mastered <Beavle's Mana Emission Enchantment> in the first place."
"Sigunting. You're from the enchantment magic school. What do you think?"
The 3rd year dwarf student with geometrically braided beard made a serious expression.
Then he opened his mouth.
"Well. I'm not interested in other students, so I don't know."
"..."
"..."
'Trash bastard.'
Students from other schools cast contemptuous gazes.
Of course, they couldn't conscientiously take good care of their juniors in their schools either. They were already busy just solving their lecture assignments and handling research.
But the enchantment magic school was a bit worse.
A school where disciples sometimes forgot their professor's name, and seniors occasionally forgot their juniors' existence.
From the outside, it was puzzling why they were even called a school.
'Shouldn't those guys just work separately?'
"<Beavle's Mana Absorption Enchantment> is a difficult magic, right? I'm not mistaken, am I?"
"It is."
There was a reason the students in the classroom were shocked when they heard the magic's name.
Beavle's mana control magic series was a huge wall for students not majoring in the enchantment magic school.
Surprisingly, there were many cases where students learned one or two magics as needed even if they didn't major in that magic school.
Due to its unique usefulness, quite a number of students from other schools took related lectures in enchantment magic too.
Weren't several students from other schools taking this lecture right now?
Of course, as they weren't majoring in the school, it was difficult to master high-level magic, but students didn't expect that much in the first place.
What students from other schools wanted were magics that were easy to learn, highly versatile, and good for applying to their own school's magic, but...
-Here, everyone take this. It's Professor's <Beavle's Mana Emission Enchantment> magic. It's much better and more convenient than existing mana attribute conversion magic.-
-Wow, is it okay to just give out something like this?-
-The professor doesn't care anyway. Anyway, what you want is roughly in these magics, so learn them well on your own.-
-Thanks. ...Wait. Can we really learn this?-
As it required memorizing much more delicate and complex movements and understanding principles, in exchange for being superior and more convenient than existing magic, students not majoring in the enchantment magic school had no choice but to bounce off.
Even students majoring in the enchantment magic school often bounced off unable to master some of them.
"Then it is amazing. Starting from mastering emission, he learned absorption that quickly."
"No. The question is whether that's possible. Sigunting. I know you're not interested, but what's your standard?"
Sigunting said nothing. The students shook Sigunting in puzzlement.
"Why aren't you saying anything?"
"Ah. Sorry. I was wondering what work to ask that junior after today's lecture."
Crash bang clang!
The seniors pushed Sigunting back.
As Yi-Han raised his head, the seniors shouted first.
"Now the floor is really fine!"
"Even if you roll oiled carriage wheels, they'll stop on this, so don't worry! Focus again!"
"It's fine. The work is all done."
"...?!?!?"
*
While the seniors were making noise in front, Yi-Han helped Professor Verduus and additionally learned amplification, augmentation, acceleration, explosion, curvature, and illusion magics.
Excited by the work speed incomparable to usual, Professor Verduus shouted, riding the momentum.
"The next work too!"
"Don't talk nonsense, Professor."
Professor Verduus grumbled that his disciple was too uninterested and unenthusiastic about magic, but Yi-Han ignored him.
Now Yi-Han had to prepare according to the lecture content too.
'It feels like I've used up all my strength before the lecture even started.'
After checking the chair and floor once just in case (the inside of the classroom seemed unusually slippery today), Yi-Han sat down.
As could be guessed from the lecture <Staff Materials and Magic Amplification>, basically, staffs' performance changed erratically depending on what materials were combined and how.
For example, if you made the frame of the staff with blue water wood and put fragments left by an abyss great void inside, that staff would become an extremely water element specialized staff.
If you made the frame with metal from the demon realm and drew patterns with demon blood, it would have advantages when casting demon summoning magic.
'A staff that's easy enough for me to make, but with decent performance.'
The staff Yi-Han was currently using was the one made by the talking oak tree.
As the original basic staff was made by Einroguard, its shape and balance were close to perfect, but it didn't have any particularly strong power or magic sleeping inside.
-Snatch it while blocking the professor and run away!-
-You gang of thieves! You're now stealing rightful property protected by imperial law!-
-How can you mention imperial law when there's no one who breaks it more than you, Professor!-
Noisy sounds were heard from the side, but Yi-Han ignored them to concentrate.
The staff made by the talking oak tree had a tree spirit dwelling in it.
Plus the Frost Giant King and the teleportation statue.
The tree spirit dwelled in the staff's body, and the King of Frost Giant's blue gemstone and the teleportation statue's ore were embedded at the end.
'It should be possible to move them, but I'll have to make it taking those into account too.'
It wasn't good to forcibly put in power too strong for the staff to withstand.
In the worst case, the staff could crack or break.
-Oh my! He really mastered it! Look at this!-
-It's a miracle of Einroguard!-
-How on earth is this possible? Wait. Isn't this amplification? Did he do amplification too?-
-Give it back! You gang of thieves!-
Crash!!
-Damn. He's back already! Everyone scatter! Buy time!-
Yi-Han drew a simple magic circle and prepared summoning magic.
When he first received this staff, he couldn't use many magics, but now Yi-Han had increased the number of magics he could use quite a bit while spending time in Einroguard.
The magic he was trying to use now was 2nd Circle, <Lesser Spirit Conversation>.
It was a magic belonging to the summoning magic school that attempted to ask a few questions to a spirit without a contract.
Yi-Han hadn't used it much as he rarely met spirits, but he had diligently learned it.
'I'm glad I learned it. Indeed, there's no loss in mastering magic.'
Yi-Han cast the magic to ask questions to the tree spirit in the staff.
"Spirit. Please answer my questions."
The magic was cast accurately, but no answer came from the spirit.
'What's going on?'
Yi-Han was puzzled, wondering if he had made some mistake.
As he had never done it before, it was hard to figure out what had gone wrong.
"Senior... Senior, what happened?!"
Only then looking around, Yi-Han realized the seniors were limping and having nosebleeds.
"It's nothing."
"Did you perhaps try to learn Professor Verduus's magic again?"
"W-well, you could say that."
"That's amazing."
As the junior sent gazes of respect, the seniors felt pangs of conscience.
They couldn't bring themselves to say 'We fought trying to confirm whether you really mastered it or not by betting'.
"What's amazing is you. It's the first time I've seen a student capable of helping Professor Verduus's work."
"?"
Yi-Han didn't understand.
Of course, Yi-Han had special advantages in some parts of enchantment magic, but there must be seniors more outstanding than Yi-Han in the enchantment magic school.
"Aren't there seniors in the enchantment magic school?"
"Ah. People capable of helping Professor Verduus's work usually don't help and do their own magic."
"..."
Newly realizing the bleak human relationships within the enchantment magic school, Yi-Han felt bitter.
'Come to think of it, if seniors had taken on Professor Verduus's work, I wouldn't have had to suffer like this.'
Yi-Han thought so, not realizing that due to his mana characteristics, he would have been forced to participate even if seniors took on the work.
"Senior. Could you please check if there's anything wrong with this magic?"
"Enchantment magic? If it's enchantment magic, I think you'd do better than me."
"Haha. Your joke is too much."
"It's not a joke."
"I understand. Thank you for the compliment."
"No, I'm really not joking..."
The senior felt dumbfounded but checked the problem Yi-Han had mentioned anyway.
It was a staff with a tree spirit dwelling in it, but there was no answer even when casting <Lesser Spirit Conversation>.
"You cast the magic properly? There doesn't seem to be any particular problem."
"Is that so?"
"I'll try casting it again."
The senior swung the staff and cast <Lesser Spirit Conversation>.
Watching this, Yi-Han suddenly felt ominous.
'...Surely it's not that it didn't answer because it was afraid of me.'
"Spirit. Are you listening?"
A symbol indicating affirmation was drawn in front of the staff and then disappeared.
"It works? How strange. I wonder what the reason was?"
The senior fell into thought.
As this magic could only answer yes or no, the questioner had to ask somewhat sharp questions.
"Senior. Could you please ask if it didn't answer because it was afraid of me?"
"What nonsense are you talking about?"
The senior burst into laughter at Yi-Han's words.
"Hey. Of course you might seem scary to Einroguard students. Since you're taking all schools."
"..."
Yi-Han glared at the senior with a sour expression.
"But spirits don't get scared by such things."
"Try it."
"Alright, alright. Did you perhaps not answer because you were afraid of this mage here?"
Surprisingly, the answer was negative.
Yi-Han was shocked and grabbed the senior's shoulders tightly, shouting.
"Senior. Look!!! The spirit says it's not afraid of me!!!"
"Y-yes. Congratulations. I don't know why you're so happy, but could you loosen your grip? The collarbone that broke earlier because of Professor Verduus still hurts."
"I'm sorry."
Released from the strong grip, the senior rubbed his shoulder and fell into thought.
"Hmm. I really don't know the reason."
"I wanted to ask a few things because of making a new staff..."
"Well. It can't be helped. Let's just ask everything we can."
The senior took out a spirit summoning magic book from his bosom and asked questions in order.
"Did you perhaps make a contract with an evil being?"
"Ugh."
"Did you perhaps fight an excessively dangerous battle?"
"Uugh."
"...What's wrong? Are you in pain somewhere?"
"It's nothing. Please continue."
