I’d read a whole collection of variations on the Green Ribbon story. Both of your versions are excellent, I’d love to see where else you could take it. The tale is about trust and consent in relationships and that is a DEEP well, especially these days. How does a jealous spouse react when they log in to their lover’s “Green Ribbon” account and discover something they don’t like? Or when their mother-in-law insists that THEY place a green ribbon on their lover’s neck as part of the marriage vows, never to be removed? So many angles of family, social, and cultural dynamics to explore with the narrative equivalent of a Big Red Button saying “DO NOT PRESS” in your relationship. Side note: Loved the first book, looking forward to grabbing the second.

BTW! I JUST noticed that in the panel with Jane brushing her hair that the guy is looking up and you can see a small section of the floor for the room Charlotte is in. Dudes first mistake... dude decided to put his new wife directly below the room the shuffling sounds were in and never expected her to get curious.

OK I have questions. First, does this mean Charlotte's head wasn't the original? (But it said they knew each other at a young age). Second, it said she got sick in winter, was this because of winter or because his feelings were souring towards her? Or was it a phase she would go through since maybe that's when she attained her current head? Third, can she have children? Fourth, I thought once she took Jane's head, her body's skin tone would adjust but there is a large difference in skin tone, is this not suspicious or strange lol? Fifth, if after removing the ribbon, the headless body had managed to grab the husband, would it have taken his head? And any head will do? Or is it only female heads? I guess we can't know this one since we didn't see if the headless body was about to become violent or not.

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, I think. But even that is mostly a collection of folk tales and ghost stories--not original stories. Adam openly acknowledges that he sometimes puts his own art and his own spin on old classics.
