Rhonda

Because Capitalism. Also, sounds like you did more than enough in one day than most people try for. Kudos 👍

Grace Lasiter

Sounds like depression, cause I do a lot but feel like a lazy fraud at the end of the day. Just gotta remind yourself any accomplishment, no matter how small, is still an accomplishment.

Leanna S.

If this is shakshuka we made the same meal 😳

Sapphire Sloane

Because our society has forced us to believe that if you aren’t doing something them deem “productive” 12-14 hours a day, and only in the house or in bed to sleep, then you’re not contributing to society or being useful in any capacity. I know this quarantine is making us all stir crazy, including my introverted ass, believe it or not. But no worries, you’re doing beautifully. 💙

Buttonetta

Ive been getting bummed out thinking “what’s the point” of doing anything....doing chores or making art.. 😓

This comic really makes me feel less alone with how I’m feeling! Thanks!

I’ve been really struggling with this feeling too. Thank you for making this

This is spooky I just made shakshuka today, just like cartoon Adam.

Brandon, I think it is something like shakshuka

What dish is that? All of the food you draw looks so good

You’re keeping people chuckling during quarantine, and some people are hard to make laugh, so don’t feel demotivated. This times, too, shall pass.

MamaBearCat

Sometimes, we work hard, and even though we don't always do the work for the appreciation, it's nice to get that validation in person. When we don't have that human contact, it's easy to feel invisible, and what we're doing is just 'busywork' and doesn't matter. I've been feeling that myself. But you're not in a vacuum Adam - just look at how many of us see you xx

BeatButton

Imagining getting four hours of real productive work in, making dinner, and cleaning even one room of my apartment is exhausting

Trojanman

Why are you attacking me Adam?

EvayArt

I definitely know the feeling. Not that this will make you feel any better, but I've been blown away at the amount of content you've been creating. You've been going above and beyond and we are all so grateful!

I think that because we're home all the time, there's a need to be productive and to do lost of things. But, in reality, we're doing what we can, and that's more than enough for now. =)

It’s depressing really. I work in theatre so right now I literally have nothing going on. I’m reading and trying to acquire new skills but it all seems so fruitless 😔. But it’ll pass. Just like rain clouds do. The world won’t be the same after this but we will always find joy as long as we search for it.

Me every damn day

Kate

🌞🌞🌞Does Adam have any experience working on any animated tv shows?? Cuz Bento Box (Bob's Burgers' animation house) is hiring freelancers. ⛅⛅⛅

Ochatori

Damn you got one of those fancy Smeg toasters?

Trey Johnson

For some reason I keep thinking you live in LA

John Stevens

In reality, it's all about perspective. Things will eventually seem normal again, but there will also be some sense of change. You could argue that we all have grown and learned from this experience. Some have suffered a tremendous loss. Others have sleeplessly faught the invisible enemy. Sure, things might eventually seem normal, but we will never forget.

John Stevens

But have you made a fort and ate obscene amounts of candy?

Lisa Pendragyn

this one really hit home <3

love this take

Beatriz Lara

This hits home. I'm struggling with my motivation to work from home and even so I still feel like I'm not doing anything. Lately I've found some satisfaction in doing 30 mins of exercise everyday, aerobics mostly. But that's it.

Casey Bresin-Clark

Shakshuka??

Jennie Brown

I don’t think it will be normal, but that’s a good thing, a lot of things need to change and should have already changed so maybe this happening is the turning point

madscipanda

Thank you. I feel this so hard

Stephanie Goodner

We are the NPCs during a boss fight. It's no wonder we feel like we aren't doing enough... we literally cannot fight what is happening! But, we *can* stay home and prevent making the boss stronger. Just think of it... Billions of people are working in solidarity to beat this boss by doing "nothing". 💪Take care of yourselves. ❤

cody Warren

Relatable, my isolation depression and anxiety have been growing more and more each day

I totally understand that feeling. Sometimes we wonder if our efforts are ever enough.

My roommates have to keep reminding me of the things I did in a day because I'll talk about how unproductive I've been even though I spent all day cleaning, cooking, and getting work done on my computer.

There's no good response to this😔 hang in there, we have to make it through.

Andrew Bellevage

I can relate to this one!

Jeffrey Kontio

This one hit real hard... Thank you for sharing your talents; it's regularly a moment of levity during a time where the weight of isolation regularly drags me down.

We're with you, man!

Seti

We're all in this together

💓

Sebas Andrade

I'm convinced artists in general get to see the whole picture while others just get a glimpse of it. That's why reading this feels so eye opening, but we do need this! Thanks for unlocking Pandora's box here Adam, your work is excellent

Will I sound too much Marxist if I say that this feeling was planted in our heads by capitalism? Because, I can definitely say that you (me, everyone else) have that feeling because everything we accomplished during quarantine doesn't come with a pay check (a stimulation if you prefer) at the end of the day. Except for your drawings, of course, which are amazing. Keep the work! But don't stop cooking and cleaning please ^^

Jac

I started doing video therapy, and yeah it isn't the same, BUT it is better than not going at all (or at least that's what I feel). My home situation isn't the best and I have to go park my car in our local shopping mall's empty parking lot during our sessions so I can use the mall's wifi and so I'm not overheard at home.

Robyn C.M.

This post is v relatable. Thank you for sharing. Kinda cathartic to know so many others are feeling the same way

Kate Marshall

I feel this so hard. I’m lucky to still be working and to be able to work from home. I go for walks when I’m done. I started learning how to embroider (not well). And yet every day I feel like a lazy lump.

This resonates so intensely

Kelly Broomhall

Imposter syndrome? Depression?

chris ruiz

That Shakshouka tho

I know so many can relate to this content. But just know you do plenty just with your art! I'm part of the "essential worker" crew, so I go out into this madness on the daily. Just getting to take a moment and smile while reading, and seeing your work gives me a much needed little lift. Keep it going!

Roger

Most often than not, a little is enough

Aidan McElroy

Daaammmnnn that ass tho

Babygirl23415

God, I 100% agree. I'm at a point where nothing feels meaningful. I hate not knowing when this is all going to be over, and the worst part is in general I'm incredibly lucky and hardly affected. There are millions of people that are unemployed, while I sit at home playing Animal Crossing and getting paid as if I was working. Cleaning feels pointless, caring about my physical health feels pointless. And that's with medication. I wish I could have a face to face session with my therapist, but God knows when that will happen. They offered to do over the phone or over video therapy but I just don't think it would feel right.

DancingShadow24

I honestly havr no idea why we feel like this. I got a DREAM makeup vanity that came with about 100 pieces plus the heavy mirror and 15 delicate light bulbs. I built that bitch in two days and I was SO HAPPY to have it, but... I feel so down. I feel so incomplete. Maybe its because I cant use it for its intended purposes which is to get ready for when I go out to the clubs. This is bringing me down to a depression.

Marc

Your dinner looks good though!

That sounds like one of the hallmarks of depression. I'd encourage you to reach out to trusted friends or a therapist if you have one. I'm here for you, too. ❤️

Anders

I think it’s the using a broom for cleaning that makes it all feel pointless ;)

Benjamin Andrew Ross

You made some content for us today that we're all discussing! And it looks like you made shakshuka for dinner which is awesome!

Vagelis Apostolidis

Didn't we just "spend time" before the virus? I don't think it is about being productive or accomplishing something. It is all about feeling insecure and confined, as I see it. :/ Nice one in any case! :)

Shimazun

I really feel the same. Even if I jog a couple of miles or write a script for a university project, feels like nothing. Just spending my time somehow...

It may be due to your feeling you have not done enough for the world. You have done more than enough. You are more than enough. These are challenging times for the world, we are all affected psychologically in various ways.

I desire a new "normal"...where artists are a significant segment of those that will lead the way...your work helps me smile and, to me, that's powerful...hang in there ❤️

Jess Porter

Because we're conditioned to feel like if we're not contributing to consumer culture and capitalism we're not worth anything. You're killing it. Be kind to yourself x

AliceSh

I feel this. You're not alone, we're gonna get through this 👊

The Dutch Housewives

Same... Day 40 in quarantine now and everything has a hint of pointlessness ':)

Chris O.

You don’t have to feel accomplished and it’s okay. The pressure to be “productive” in all of this is immense but we’re in the midst of a traumatic experience and we have to be really kind to ourselves and each other.

Ditto!

Captain Peggy Carter

I havent been able to work since last June and I've felt the same way.

Shakshouka! Life’s a strange little bitch so just try to take pleasure in the little things and spend less time analyzing the whole

S

I feel you... and I’m afraid we won’t go back to ‘normal’ any time soon... restaurants for instance will stay closed for a long time I’m afraid... In the meantime: let’s be nice to each other 😁

Alexia

I hope the world never gets back to "normal" again

Antony Lowbridge-Ellis

This really gets me

You are enough! Thanks for sharing your truth with us. 💜

Paris Deligiannis

I think it means you are ready to take on more stuff. You want a challenge, and that's healthy.

ratkyu

It may not feel like you’re accomplishing much but the sheer amount of support you’ve gained on here is amazing! You’re an inspiration to young gay artists and I’m glad you make the content you do. Hope things start to feel better <3

Closeface

But, we’re all just spinning our wheels waiting to die anyway *shrug*

Dorothy Zbornak

You're not alone, Adam

Master of the Deck

do we have imposter syndrome in our own homes now, too

Marc Robles

Relatable on so many levels....

thehoddy

Hugs!! We’re all in this weird ass boat together.

Me too

Connor

Relatable

So relatable...
