I think you're missing the point slightly, no one cares about winning. The currency on these shows is laughter and sometimes getting the klaxon gets a laugh.
The champagne sword thing is easy enough. Google should have the few tips you need. I’ve done it with a bread knife so any sharp edged blade will do. Bottle is 3 parts, 2 halves and a top, when you hit the ridge of the top the pressure will do the rest :) low quality bottle + poor technique can brek the bottle halves as well leaving very sharp shards so watch out when picking up the bottle
