We're in the sixth season and FINALLY, we get an episode focused on Nishimura and Kitamoto meeting Natsume for the first time!
I'm always in awe of how this shows weaves in everything -- it's just amazing to me! And this episode is no exception - there's a LOT to talk about!

Catching up on comments so sorry for the wait on this one! Thank you so much for the kind words and yessss, Nishimura and Kitamoto just coming in clutch in this series, right?! It was so good to get things from their perspective and to see that they’re basically aware something is “up” with Natsume, even as Natsume thinks he has them fooled…of course! ;) I REALLY loved how observant Nishimura is, which was opposite of what I expected – and yesss, that note from Nishimura to Natsume - noting how he went through this before the big spiel from Tanuma…really makes you think! It’s also funny how Kishimoto comes off as more practical and “sturdy” emotionally, but he’s the one breaking down over worrying with his family just as much as Natsume. The full figure line would have made SO Much more sense, translators! Hahaha!! Thank you again; this show DEFINITELY is a delight and my go-to if I’ve had a bad day – I just don’t want to get TOO far ahead with it!

Loved the reaction and discussion! Sweetest Nishimura! Sweetest Kitamoto! 🥰 This episode was so well crafted and I really loved getting the insight into Nishimura and Kitamoto, as well as seeing just how observant they are. Nishimura noting that this was the first time Natsume had talked about himself and the thing Natsume says is: “My room is on the second floor, too.” A tiny thing - but so clearly indicative of how Nishimura has noticed how guarded Natsume is (and out of step socially). Nishimura’s yokai-magnified anger and saying: “Do you think the people around you are that useless?” This show does so well at examining that cliff’s edge where trauma induced mistrust and self-sacrificing tendencies can really start to become unkind to others. That odd ‘sexy body’ subtitle in my version was: “It’s got quite a full figure, doesn’t it?” 😂 Really excellent discussion! Absolutely agree that this is very much a season based on reflection. And happy to hear how much the show continues to delight! 🥰 Looking forward to next week! 💙
