I really like that this series is explaining the rules of Karuta in such a natural way! And fairly early on, so even better! I think it would be a lot of fun - like how we see it in Sk8 the Infinity’s latest OVA - just as a recreational thing, but I’m not sure I would be able to handle it competitively like this without a LOT of practice! It definitely seems accessible if anything! I really admire Chihaya’s persistence as well! She’s not perfect and I like that about her - it gives her room to grow as a person in this series, much like Taichi and others on the team so far. It’s funny how I relate to Chihaya a lot and you relate to Taichi a lot! 😀 I can definitely see where Taichi comes from in his thought process and I’m excited to see how he’s going to grow as a character and challenge himself with those worries and hurdles. And YESSSS, he’s a great balance to Chihaya – *coughcough* more on that in Episode 9. ;) I am excited now that we have the team assembled and to see where they all go with competition. Thank you for the comment and the kind words and no worries about being busy! You can get to the reactions and comments whenever you want to! I appreciate all the support and am glad you’re enjoying the series with me!

Ahhh, Porkbun sounds MUCH kinder and more playful than Porky! Thank you for clarifying that! I apologize for me getting onto Chihaya so much knowing that now! But I really like Nishida so far! I love concept of defying stereotypes so far and it really makes this show so much more enjoyable to me, like you noted! This series definitely has a hold on me! I cannot WAITTTT for the Episode 9 discussion! 😀 Thank you for the comment and kind words!

Ah, it's so nice to have the rules of Karuta being introuced to us! That is, one of the things I was most looking forward to learn since we started the show. Honestly, from what I'm seeing, Karuta seemes like a game that I would enjoy playing myself, non-competitively; which is something that I don't often say when I watch sports anime, even if I do find them interesting in the end. Chihaya is so persistent, dang, I'm impressed. I really like her perseverance, but I also appreciate that it can be a little pushy at times. She's not perfect, she has many qualities but she also has some things that she needs to work on a little, and I think that's neat. Something I've being meaning to say, is that I relate with Taichi so much. I, too, can be a little pesimistic at times, even when really caring about something and wanting it to succeed. It's like I need to see the bad things first so I can get them out of the way, and then I can see the good things and get excited over them. And, specially with Taichi's upbringing, I can see those traits magnified, and his difficulty to allow himself to enjoy something, because he's scared of liking it too much and then losing it; it all makes for a really good combination, and a character that I can relate so hard with. Plus, his personality makes a very nice contrast with Chihaya's, and shipping googles aside (which I very much have them on with these two) that is just way more fun to watch. Now, the Karuta club is complete, and I really like the very different reasons and motivatios that you have in it. Seeing Chihaya fully commit to recruiting that one girl to the Karuta club *only* because Ooe said that she would look good in traditional clothing is adorable. (P.S. I've being so busy over the last couple of weeks that I had no energy or time to comment after wathing the reactions, but I've being loving this series so much! It has such a nice dose of comedy mixed in)

I really hate that the subtitles changed Nishida's nickname from nikuman-kun or porkbun-kun to porky. It makes it sound like a derogatory term, instead of a playful one. Just like they changed Taichi from eyelashes-kun to eyebrows, which just makes no sense. But as a character, I really like Nishida and I love how this story doesn't rely on the usual tropes. There is no harem for Chihaya or Taichi, Nishida isn't a fat otaku, Komano isn't a recluse who can't speak to girls, Kana isn't a loli to be objectified by others. They're all positive depictions of normal high school kids with normal problems, which is yet another reason why I love this anime
