YES - I honestly was floored by how realistically this entire story with Tanaka was portrayed - I've known people in my life who have or are experiencing parts of Tanaka's story and it's heartbreaking. And yeah, I definitely agree that there is a strong possibility that Tanaka had depression as a teenager and it just kept escalating alongside these other attributes that got added on over time. The most scary thing is that shit like that happens and people like that exist. Also it's clear to me Tanaka had a depression even as a teen. I'm pretty sure it was a result of how his parent treated him and it only worsened with a time and lead to gambling addiction and psychosis.
