We think of the yokai as scary and creepy, but looks can be deceiving as Natsume and his boyfr--best friend Tanuma confront an introverted and seemingly malicious spirit! It's a twist of unreliable narrators that I was NOT expecting!
I also take time in the beginning to review Manga Volume 4 and all of its fun quirks and author's notes from season 2!

Thank you so much!! So many cute yokai to talk about!! I agree that the themes of the yokai can be projected onto Natsume and have been throughout this series as well. I do love the concept that it also applies to Tanuma and those two end up communicating in the end - yes, I do love Tanuma as well! Thank you so much for the comment and kind words! Loved the reaction & discussion! Eggy last time and snow bunny this time! 😭 I think those themes of self-harm and self-sacrifice presented by the brother can really be extended to Natsume (who fears endangering others and therefore has so much trouble connecting with others the way he wants to) and Tanuma (who puts himself in danger where he knows he is outmatched because he wants to protect Natsume and not ask for help). And then they talk in the end! Well, Tanuma does, at least. What else can I say about such a Tanuma-heavy episode? He is The Best. 🥰 This was such a stunning episode, as well! Looking forward to next week! 💙
