Rollo and Bjorn in their prime are better warriors than Ragnar in his prime. Both in sagas as in the show. Rollo always was referred to as the "greta warrior" by every people they come across to. Ragnar literally named Bjorn Ironside knowing his fighting skills are bare to none and would protect him against every attack or blow.
