He was just using that to make the video 'pop'. Normal people would use a heat gun, and I think iFixIt even sells a microwaveable bag of grain that can reach (and hold) a safer temperature easily.

Great video - really shows the troubleshooting process, as I experience it. I've struggled with replacing screens on phones and tablets (with one memorable success!), and recently had several problems with connectors inside Macbooks - cleaning/re-seating them can 'fix' things for days but ultimately I had to buy new cables!

For next time, I recommend using a heat gun (one of those very hot air blow thingies) for heating up the display and glue. The torch is way too hot, which is why the display died a bit
