Dont mess with that. I had a house fire in 2014 because the insulation on the individual wires WITHIN the outer sheath of a romex wire in my unfinished basement had gotten dry with age (House was built in '72) and cracked, allowing arcs between the individual conductors. The house was almost a total loss, but the fire marshal was able to find the fault, and I even kept the piece of wire he found, with visible tiny little "welds" from the live wire it was arcing to. I think even a GFCI may not have saved me, but now we have "Arc fault" breakers which are now code, and supposedly detect this condition.

yes of course. I say that I struggle and am grateful that I can contribute even if it's only a dollar, and you come and flex OOH I CAN give 25 dollars oooh look at me. May I say that there is room for improvement in your choice of reply.

Well, it is worth to join ElectroBOOM even with 25 dollars which i did.

The-Erro1

Well. I do have a faulty GFCI or as we call it FI. I didn't notice when i made my high voltage power supply finnish that the high voltage cable jacket was broken and arced to the metall housing. It was really dangerous because i saw arcs jumping from the housing to different places, like small purple arcs. The GFCI didn't pop

Can I say again Mehdi that I am glad that it is possible to join your Patreon at only $1 a month. Many creators set minimums like $4 and even though I think they are worth my support, I cannot in good faith give them $4 dollars a month!

Why only 5mA? European RCD/GFCI trips just before 30mA (and twice the voltage)

Sorry I keep forgetting that when I schedule it to release, it goes private in the meantime! It will be live in 25 minutes from this comment!

Hi! Ever seen a Duspol (it’s a brand name but used for that class of device, at least in the German speaking world) ? They are very handy and also allow to check GFCI without risk :)

Zhenbang Xiao

Is the video down?

SAI VAMSHI

Hello Mehdi, when are you visiting India to check the same? Please let us know.

It's amazing how much money you can save by just opening and closing faulty things!!!!
