Indeed the toaster is quite common for tripping the RCD. Even an irregular slice of bread such as a sliced panini or roll can end up with a piece of crust touching an element, which trips the RCD. The same goes with people trying to lift a slice of bread with a knife to check whether it's toasted enough yet.

Why x-acto knives for electrodes? with the tips pointed up?? uncovered on top of your workbench where you are often flailing around??? that scared me way more than the knife in the toaster!

Would one need UV eye protection for that kind of makeshift welder? Or is it inconsistent enough to not be of concern?
