Very nice video, "I'll give you guys three monetized seconds" lol. I made a van de Graaff a while ago but not nearly as good as yours. (of course) It was a small desktop one, I used a rubber band and a glass tube from a fuse, fun stuff :)

These Van De Graaf videos have been awesome Mehdi, really funny but also educational, classic ElectroBOOM! The montage of making the VDG from the first video had me in stitches, great stuff mate. Always nice to see ElectroCute making an appearance too.

Probably won't trip GFI, it is a nano second pulse. I think in order to trigger GFI it should last a bit longer otherwise that circuit may always false trigger.

I need to get some pvc, pantyhose, and Ikea salad bowls. Shopping list this week is looking a little odd.

If you plugged a power cord into an outlet with the 3 wires at the end of the power cord stripped and brought it close to your VdG would you be able to trip the circuit breaker? Or a GFI. Could you trip a surge protected power strip? I wonder if all 3 wires are surge protected? You would probably have to introduce the spark between the outlet and the power strip, wouldn't you? If you bought some cheap used electronics like old radios and computers could the discharge from your VdG damage them? Or maybe just some circuits on a breadboard. The VdG seems to be working better, did you do anything to 'tune' it?
