Indeed it are usually the driver circuits that die first. I remember buying a fancy IKEA LED lamp and after less than a month, the fuse inside it went kablooie because the driver circuit had gone short-circuit. Luckily we still had the receipt which made getting a replacement through warranty very easy.

Hey Mehdi, it looks like someone smeared vaseline on your lens. Don't get too carried away with those digital fx! BTW, at least bad LED lights aren't as environmentally poisonous as bad compact fluorescent lights. I wasted hundreds of $$ on CFL's and at least 75% of them went bad in less than a year. And I could never remember where I bought them. Maybe we'll get past the fad stage of LED lighting in another few years. Maybe take a look at those bi-directional LED COB strips under a microscope. Using two strips to avoid the electronics does have a certain appeal.... In some situations it might be a clever solution instead of a cheap work-around.

It'll be a challenge trying to return those bulbs here in Ireland to Amazon UK. Packets for overseas post most not contain any liquid. I can just imagine the Customs inspectors reaction opening suspicious liquid containing X-Rayed packets described as "Light bulbs".

Hey Mehdi, I used to work at a California utility in the efficiency program and cheap/poor quality LEDs were a major issue. We eventually required all products to be on Qualified Product Lists like the DesignLights Consortium or Energy Star. They do a pretty good job weeding out the baddies since they require 3rd party lab test reporting, (scrutiny that a bad LED company wouldn't want). It's good to check the box or spec sheet for the DLC or Energy Star logo, or better yet, check the QPL on the website since manufacturers can say anything on the box/spec sheet. Thanks for the video, I've seen these ones in stores and had no idea they were such garbage!
