... I'm a modern feminist. I don't know who you ever met who said "I'm a feminist and all men are inferior," but I promise you they don't speak for the rest of is. I agree that being told your life's work was a placebo would be pretty awful But that doesn't equal the priest being told that he's awful. An awful fate, yes, and an awful thing to hear, yes. But I wrote this thinking with the character of the priest being a good person and the demon seeing his decency. He was so good that she felt guilty about having taken from him something he cared about.

Let me try to explain. Christians believe that salvation rests in faith to Christ. The Demon tells the priest, after stealing his soul, that this is false. Thus, he's followed a false truth and is damned anyway. A terrible fate. Seriously an awful thing to say. Modern feminists believe men are inferior in almost every way. Men who accept that, are no longer men. An awful fate.

Dude! Duuuuuuude! She never said he was a terrible person, she actually thought he was a very sweet person who comforts people through hard times. She just said it was performative. If a placebo works, it works! But also.. Duuuuuuude! I'm a garden-variety feminist and I don't think anyone would accuse me of telling men what terrible people they are. Equal opportunities for all benefit us all. That extends to everyone. We waste valuable skills and resources when we limit people based on gender or any other aspect of them that isn't relevant to the task at hand.
